Re: [Happy With Depo Provera] Hello!!!

I have been on Depo for almost 6 years on and off. I had received the depo shot
for the first time after my first daughter was born. Then a few years later I
stopped the depo shot. To try to have a second child. Which it worked my
second daughter is 2 now. But everytime that I started the depo shot I did lose
my period all together. I had decided a few months back to stop the depo and go
on the pill I hated the pill. It made me sick and my breast sore. So I
figured I had no major side effects with depo so I went back on it.
I like the depo because I can plan when I would like to get pregnant again. As
you may have read it takes almost 1 full year to conceive. It took me 3 months
to get my period. I like the fact of going every 3 months...not having to
remember a pill everyday. I have not experienced hair loss...everyone in awhile
I get a severe headache but I am pretty sure it is not related to the depo but
STRESS of everyday life. The one negative about depo for me is the weight
gain..... I have gained a good 30 pounds within 6 years. But this was
gradually. This is average of 5 a year. I must admit that I do not excercise
everyday. I did lose 25 pounds through weight watchers but gained it
practically back in about 6 months. So that is definately not good. I am in
search of a diet that can help with the weight loss. That is my major pet peeve
of mine. But overall I guess the price of depo for me which is only $10 every
three months is worth more than an unexpected pregnancy. I guess I will have an
on going battle with weight gain unless a miracle diet comes along.

going to begin
depo-provera this week, (any day now!), and have becomed worries by
all the horror stories on line. Hoping someone here can reassure
me, at least with their own experiences. How long does it take to
become effective? Have you had any bad side effects with the first
shot, that went away with the second? How many of you have actually
lost your periods, and are you comfortable with this?

Thanks so much!
Elizabeth

Hi everyone! I am new to this group. I was on Depo about 8 months ago. I went on to the anti-Depo groups and read what they wrote. My advice, dont go there....
