Hi Elizabeth,
I'm new to the group too. I've been on depo for 2 years so I guess I can tell
you about my experiences with it. The first shot I really didn't notice that
much except for spotting for the lenght of the first shot. I found out that this
is something some women get with it. I get my period now the week before I'm due
for my shot, and it's a lot better than when I used to get it. I used to get
really horrible periods with this weird pain in my back that would knock me out!
It was one of the reasons why I thought to give it a try. It was strange when I
didn't get my period at first but my doctor said not to worry. She also said
that the first two weeks to use extra protection until the shot kicked in. I did
gain some weight, 10-13 pounds but I wouldn't blame all of that on the shot. I'm
working out more now than I was before, I was uder a lot more stress, and eating
the wrong things. I also fit in the same clothes that I wore when I got my first
shot. My chest got bigger too, which was a nice surprise. Nothing other than
that, no loss of sex drive or the other horrible things that I read about. Keep
in mind that I probably spotted because I had heavy periods to begin with.during
the first shot, and it was bearable. Hope my info helps.

going to begin
depo-provera this week, (any day now!), and have becomed worries by
all the horror stories on line. Hoping someone here can reassure
me, at least with their own experiences. How long does it take to
become effective? Have you had any bad side effects with the first
shot, that went away with the second? How many of you have actually
lost your periods, and are you comfortable with this?
Thanks so much!
Elizabeth
