I have been getting a Depo shot for many years. I
began getting the shot in 1996. I then stopped taking
it for a while when I was trying to get pregnant and
then during my pregnancy. I have been getting the shot
for a total of about five years. I have definitely
experienced the weight gain side effect, but that has the
only really big problem for me. I had people tell me
that I would have a very difficult time getting
pregnant after taking the shot, but I really didn't. The
manufacturer says that it will take 10-24 months to get
pregnant following the last shot. For me, it was exactly
10 months and I was pregnant. I don't think that you
should be overly concerned about what Depo is doing to
your body. I have many years of experience with it and
wouldn't change my birth control method for anything.
