hey Ladies whats up! Once again, I know this post is long as ever
but I must seriously inform all my sista's out here of whats going
on....

My name is stefani and I enjoy reading all of your informative
posts! I love this forum so much hahaha....I have been involved
with hair extention for a lil over 12 years now and Im glad we sistas
can come together and help each other out in our most time of
need....GETTING OuR Hur' DiD!

Anyway....even though this is a older topic, I wanted to update
thoughs who are still inquiering about this new "Remi Hair" phase...

O.k... to ensure the highest quality and long lasting new hairstyle,
the hair used in your new extensions must have certain essential
properties. These properties may be summarised under four headings:
Mother Nature provided hair with a scaly coating known as
the "cuticle". The cuticle acts as a natural protection and is
responsible for the shine and resilience of your hair, locking in
essential moisture and protecting the hair against the harsh elements
(wind, sun, pollution, etc.) to which it is exposed. Hair without
cuticle would rapidly dry out, become brittle and break, and appear
lifeless and dull. (For reasons which are explained later, cuticles
are removed from an available source of inferior quality hair.)

The term "genuine European hair" is often used in connection with
hair extensions in order to give them a perceived higher value...

Yet...Do you really believe that there are great numbers of European
women willing to have their beautiful long hair cut off
(coincidentally of the exact colour needed and in continuous
supply..!) in order to supply hair extension companies?

If there were these many number of European women ready to have their
hair cut off, could you really believe that their hair had not
already had some sort of chemical treatment what so ever to be called
Virgin? (This would automatically make their hair unsuitable for
subsequent use in hair extensions.....especially Remi Virgin)

If it really were available in all the quantities needed, natural
blonde hair is genetically very thin....Could you really believe that
this hair would then be suitable for use in hair extensions to
provide volume for other people....uuuh try no?

Chinese hair
Chinese hair is very often used for hair extensions, but this does
not mean it is necessarily very suitable for the job.
Chinese hair is "considerably thicker" than European hair, it is dark
black and, by contrast with European hair, has a round cross-section.
To prepare this hair for use in hair extensions, it must first be
made thinner....To make the hair thinner, it is placed in an acid
bath...This almost completely destroys the cuticle making the hair
brittle and dull.

The shine must be restored to the hair. So it is coated with a
silicon layer. This gives the hair an impressive sheen. But not for
long, because after a few washes, the silicon layer is removed and
the hair becomes dull and brittle again.
Chinese hair is suitable for use in wigs and hair pieces because wigs
and hair pieces are generaly cleaned with dry shampoo, so the silicon
layer remains intact and the hair keeps its lovely sheen. Chinese
hair is very suitable for wigs and hair pieces,
but for European women it is certainly not the best solution!

Brushed (fallen) Indian Hair Because of its same genetic origin the
basic structure of Indian hair is very similar to that of European
hair. Indian hair is of exceptional quality and Indian women rarely
go to salons for chemical treatment of any kind...This might lead you
to the conclusion that all Indian hair is ideal for hair extensions...

...but this is generally not the case!

Believe it or not, hundreds of millions of women of all ages collect
their hair every day after brushing it. This includes dark hair, grey
hair, and hair of all lengths and thicknesses....This hair is
extremely cheap to purchase because the result of this method of
collection is, of course, a mass of mixed up hair aligned in
different directions.

To give this acidised and now damaged hair a healthy appearance once
again, the hair is dipped in silicon to make it shine and to cover up
any cuticles that were not removed in the acid bath....The silicon
also adds weight to the hair which makes it fetch a better price on
the market since hair is generally sold by weight.

The standard of this hair is acceptable for the use in wigs and
toupets since these items are usually dry-cleaned and are separate to
your own hair.

But what happens if hair extensions are made with this type of hair?
(then this hair is directly mixed in with your own hair?)

In the beginning the hair is beautiful, shiny and
brushable......after a few washes however, or sweating after a night
on the town the silicon layer starts to wash out...
...slowly sometimes fastly the hair becomes duller and loses its
sheen. It becomes brittle and starts to break...
...any cuticle originally covered by the silicon will become exposed
and present a real threat of tangling and matting with your own
hair......with every wash this condition will become worse...
This type of hair is not the best solution for use in hair
extensions !

Solution
Actually, because of its wonderful quality, Indian hair does provide
the solution but not with the collection method described before. The
solution is based on hair which is collected with all its cuticle
perfectly aligned in the same direction. This hair comes in a
plait...

Indian women traditionally cut off their long hair either at their
wedding – as a symbol of starting a new part of their life – or if
they want to ask a special favour or offer thanks to a deity at a
religious temple. Collecting and using this hair to produce hair
extensions, neatly solves a number of problems:
The cuticle layer of this hair is still perfectly healthy and intact
since, as mentioned, Indian girls rarely visit hair salons to get
chemical treatments. Weaving the hair into a plait ensures that it is
all aligned in one direction. The hair is homogeneous in colour and
thickness. This precious and high quality hair provides the best
solution for an extremely reliable hair extension service.

However, as we all know, even this wonderful quality hair would be
seriously damaged if a traditional bleaching process were used in
order to provide all the different colours, including light blondes,
needed in hair extensions. Not too damaged to use but, ther lighter
you go, the worse it becomes.....

This is the Truth be told about Remi Hair and if a Sales Rep cant
tell you any portion of this info - chances are you may waste your
money....hair is an investment and those who dont take it seriously
enought to know what they are selling at this high cost are ususally
bogus and cant back up their product with any sort of
guarantee....and simply wont.

SO BUYER BEWARE!!!!!: THERE ARE A WHOLE SLEW OF COMPANIES OUT THERE
STATING THEY HAVE REMI HAIR WHEN IN FACT THE MANUFACTURES THAT THEY
ARE ORDERING FROM ARE COMPLETELY LYING TO THEM AS WELL ABOUT THIS
GROWING POPULAR HAIR TREND!! ABOUT 80% OF THE HAIR THAT IS CLAIMED
TO BE REMI ON MANY OF THESE SITES ARE NOT!

MANUFACTURES AND AT TIMES THE ACTUALL BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE ITSELF
HAVE BEEN FOUND TO BOLD FACE LYE ABOUT THIS HAIR BEING REMI......AND
THEY KNOW THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT....EVERYBODY HAS
SOMEONE TO HIDE BEHIND AND BLAME THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA...IN THE END
THEY KNOW YOU WONT TAKE THEM TO COURT SO THEY LIE.....DONT THINK THAT
COMPANIES WONT LIE, I WAS VERY SHOCKED TO FIND THAT MOST OF THEM DID
IN FACT.

I have personally done a test run to purchase hair from local and
internet hair sites, and I in the last 5 months or so have wasted
over $500.00 in hair claiming to be Remi.....I have a few celebrity
stylist that have had their fair share of so called Remi hair too!

hahah believe it or not, one manufacture...2yk HAIR I think it
was...Their Platinum yaki remi collection tangled so badly in only 5
days that it looked completely like the matted hair of a 99c dollar-
store barbie thats been sitting at the bottom of a toy box!

Im talking matted central!!!! I paid over $70.00 for that hair that
had to be tossed out in less then 3 weeks!.....Companies all over are
getting over and raking up their cost on hair hoping you dont know
the difference....They figure why charge 19.99 when they can charge
75.00 for this highly sought after hair.....they know you cant return
it, so once you buy it...its over

It pays to check out their return policy. Many hair weave and
extension websites offer a no obligation period with a guarantee of
full refund of the purchase price if you return the goods in a
satisfactory condition. Usually meaning it cant be opened!

Internet shopping for hair weave and extension is rapidly growing and
this means high competition between sites selling and marketing hair
weave and extension goods or services....leaving us the consumer to
fend for ourselves!

Now im not saying all the companies are wrong....Just use your common
sence and your natural female "feelers" you know when you get that
feeling that something is wrong? Well go with that because you could
surely save a bundle of money, Who has hundreds and hundreds of
dollars to waste?

Below are a few I can rememebr the most:

The brand "y2k" - None of their platinum Remi yaki

"Sunnys Beauty Hair supply" online or in store (AZ) - this hair was
almost comical onhow nappy and tangled it managed to get even before
I had even applied it to my head...yeah, as soon as it came out the
package...it was like the air hit it and matted it up...i mean haha,
its funny now...but it wasnt then when i just spent $127.00 on some
hair!

"HAIRFORSALE.COM" - I rememember I talked to a very informative very
nice man that actually owned the company, could tell youu anything
you need to know about all sorts of hair inquieries...he assured me
to the cows came home that his remi was the best and that he has
countless of clients, Needless to say, I get the hair and it felt
wonderful....but I still looked very very close and discovered what I
had always seen in cheap human hair....tiny clear strands that are
not human...they are some sort of "filler" and why would Remi
need "filler" hair? So I didnt even wanna waste my money on it, I
was gonna simply return it...But I had to work on the Ludacris tour
and never found time to ship it back. Eventually I opened it and
thought to give it a chance...I mean he was so darn convinced like I
was a fool to return this.....Man! it tangled that same night!!!

You know right in the back of the neck area, where we always have to
tame our hair down at.....THE SAME NIGHT LADIES....I WAS IN THE
BATHROOM SIMPLY TOO THROUGH!

The only hair I actuallt witnessed that seemed to be beautiful was
from "Nature Girl"...The owner happens to be from my town and was in
town visiting and she stopped by my studio to show me a peek and i
was in love....Now I never used it, but something was different about
this hair...This is the Indian hair I mentioned above. This was the
same supple soft texture I often seen Aaliyahs stylists use on her
hair...It was just very costly, but Im sure well worth it! Their
service is phenominal too!! Hi Michelle!

http://www.naturegirl.net/

I received The "Hair Outlet Store" free sample, and I ruffed it up a
bit and it tangled up too, but I must say that I ruffed it up rubbing
it all round the couch and floor, just to see if it would mat up. Of
course it did very quickly, but they actually do have a return
policy, so you can shop with cofidence knowing that if it mangles up
in less then 3 months they are suppose to replace it...of course I
dont know how true that is, or the catch behind that.

But its far more then what anyone else is offering

...I too want a weave that wont mat all up in the back....especially
if you've opted to spring an additional 80.00 a pack for it not
too...!

And so, in closing..after my long countless hours of searching for
that wonderous Remi hair with out having to pay what the celebs
actually pay, has not been too good....These celeb. stylist are
buying their clients hair from russia and things...and most of us
cant afford that. So if anyone who has had their Remi hair in for
more then 4 months at this point please respond back. There are so
many ladies that need and want the truth to this mythical subject

Good Luck to all!

Sorry so long...I really hope Iv helped someone...I had no one to
really ask when I first initiated this inquiery...so I hope it helps!
