dread maintenance

hi
i haven't had a dread maintentance in over
a year, due to various reasons and one of them
being that i was considering cutting them of. however,
i've decided i'd still like to keep them for a while.
i'm not quite sure though whether dread maintenance
would still have any use, as there are many (long)
loose hairs. *i need advice*
thanx
mel
