el jefe--WOW!!! what a process. all locking roads are not easy!!! it takes
patience and attitude. i did not have to knot my hair (i have naturally thick,
coarse hair- which I love). i used to maintain natural hair. most clients did
not want the knots. knot sometime form anyway once the process starts. 90% of my
clients started w/2-strand twists and wear them until the locking process takes
place. depending on the hair texture, locking could take from 2 months (my
granddaughter) to 12 months (fine hair). see my other response and check out the
publications on the market.

i have dreads , i am a blonde with no curl in my hair at all....mine
were tied in knots at the skull, backcomed, and tied again at the ends......it
ain't easy....but mine are a year old today, and are very, very firm...i cut a
section , cux i thought it was a little ling, and i couldn't pull it apart....it
seems that the fine hair, once it really locks, is possibly tighter, and firmer
that the curly hair.....i'ts weird, it makes no sense, but it was incredibly
tight.....tighter than rope.....i have pictures that chronicle the whole
process...from a rats nest, to very organixed dreadlox on a blonde, straight
haired person....el jefe

Subject: [hair extensions and dreadlocks] Dreadlock Video Help
Hello Everyone
I am in San Francisco and am making a short video about dreadlocks. I was
wondering
if anyone here in the bay area was or knew of any "expert" on the subject. A
historian/
authority on the subject if you will. Or if you know someone who knows someone
sort of
thing. I'm at square one here and any help would be much appreciated. Also if
you have
dreads and are enthusiastic about them I'd very much like the chance to sit down
and speak
with you on tape about your dreads.
Also to everyone if you know of anything - person or place dreadlock in the Bay
area i should
know about please let me know. Also you can see my work at www.cympal.com
just so you know who i am if you would have any reservations about the nature of
the
project.
Cheers
Anthony
