Re: [hair extensions and dreadlocks] Silly questions about dreads???

Kelli, you sound pretty awesome! I love how you've combined your individuality
nicely into your role as a mother :)

I am a mom of a seven year old boy. I finally have my dreadperm appt. for this
Valentine's Day! The reason I decided to get locs was because of my hair type.
I'm white, but my hair is more like African American hair (in fact I use those
kinds of hair products). It doesn't respond well to haircuts and most stylists
don't understand how to make it look right. It's naturally curly (more frizzy),
and thin, except I have a lot of it. I also have a problem with whole sections
of it not growing-this is most noticeable in the back center of my hair, where
its three inches shorter that the rest of the back (it looks like a "hole").This
is actually a genetic problem, I found out, that runs in my mother's side of the
family. To correct it, I'd have to take vitamin injections. I hate needles!

I have been trying for years to have beautiful long hair. With dreadlocks, I
can finally have them.

Have a great day!~Brenda

when they came to Vancouver?" Although I LOVE that I appear multi
ethnic I really love that someone thought they saw me at System of a
down!In reality, when I'm not working in Seattle at "Scream" I'm a down
to earth, stable, ordinary MOM of two. I love that although I'm never
at the club or the party , or the show, I always look like I'm going.
My hair is always "done" when I roll out of bed, and as far as smelling
adversly...............My hair always smells like green tea or mint,
it's never oily or has that b.o. greasy hair smell that you develop
when you don't wash your silky hair for a few days. I hope non -dready
people keep the questions coming, silly or otherwise, I love the
attention.I also love dispelling smelly dread myths and demonstrating
a peaceful coexistance between dreaded hair and suburban mom culture.
Oh yeah, and I don't smoke bud!:)I'd never get anything done!

What a great conversation topic, thanks man!
