i can only tell you from experience about the dread perm... yes it's
fast, yes it's beautiful, but you still have a crazy in between
stage too... you have to roll, roll, roll and NO WAX ALLOWED... you
can use a few types of pomade, but i found knotty boy's gel to work
the best (it washes out real easy and doesn't leave your locks
feeling greasy)... you do need maintence every couple of months and
it's totally worth it... it really does help keep your roots
dreading and if your stylist puts them in with a great design on
your scalp (i have a diamond pattern) it looks great too... once
your roots start getting too long, it gets a real messy look to
it...a good scarf hides it well though... my dreads do drive me nuts
sometimes just because they have a mind of their own...but they are
beautiful and i love them... as far as what anyone says or thinks
who cares... i get more questions about it than anything... i wish i
could hand out a card everytime someone asks me how i wash them...
but i am glad people ask... i like the attention and i like
to "spread the dread"... no matter what you decide i recommend
having someone do them for/with you... it's a mother of a process...
you have to be ambitious to do it and do it right... good luck...
post pics. when you can... luvnpeace... crissa

perm and natural dreads. W/ my job, i can't really have a whole lot
of that "in between" phase where it's a lil wild n' crazy, so I was
thinkin' dread perms cuz I've heard those are great from the start.
But is that more salon maintenance? Do you use any waxes or anything
to tame fly aways w/ dread perms? I know you can w/ natural. I guess
any commentary on this would be fabulous. I'm a newbie! lol.
