Hi everyone and thanks for the kind words. The cutting went
reasonably well, I gave each dread a quick palm roll as a way of
saying goodbye and then snip!
I was really nervous beforehand but once the first few had been
chopped off the adrenaline kicked in and everything went smoothly. I
am trying not to think about it at the moment and things are going
well but every time I look in the mirror I get a bit of a shock. The
interview is tomorrow and I'm off to the barbers shortly to get
a 'respectable' hair cut.
Becca- Yes, I agree, it is possible to work in many places with
dreadlocks, unfortunately Japanese high schools are not one of them!
In fact, in many jobs in the proffesional world I wouldn't even
consider applying for with dreadlocks as they would more than likely
laugh in my face, especially if the job involved meeting with the
public.
Crystal- What work do you do? It surprises me that you have come
across so few problems. I have noticed that in many situations black
people with dreadlocks will be accepted where as white people with
dreadlocks will be frowned upon. I am not racist in any way but I
think it may be that dreadlocks are more directly associated with
black culture.
All the best,
Christian
