File - THE GOOD AND BAD NEWS ON HAPPINESS

1. FIRST THE BAD NEWS:
If you are born the wrong way and destined to suffer, be sorry and sulk there is
not much that can be done. Ability to enjoy the world and one's own existence on
this planet is pre-programmed to a large extent. Genetic Research has found that
happiness level is 50 percent hereditary. Some have rated that to be 90%, which
is the case of behavior personality etc. If you are "unlucky" and lack the
ability to enjoy life, you simply are not supposed to be happy. But there is
some hope there.

2. HAPPINESS TRAINING CAN HELP IF DONE RIGHT:
Happiness Increase Experiments published in peer review scientific journals
(which are supposed to be without bias of financial motivation) have
demonstrated that people can be trained to be 25 % happier through various
training programs from two to ten weeks in length.

3. WEALTH AND TECHNOLOGY DO NOT HELP.
Wealth and amenities (including the technological tools) are often not able to
produce a greater level of happiness. This is because researchers have found
that although Americans have over 2.5 times more spending power (wealth) now
than fifty years ago (1950's), they are no happier, and depression is far more
widespread. At any given time, 25% of Americans are mildly depressed and there
is no reason to suspect that the prevalence is very different in the rest of the
world. It has been shown by many scientists that after you are above the poverty
line, having additional wealth has little or no effect on one's level of
happiness. Practical use of this concept is that it is no point becoming
miserably out of jealousy that you are not making as much as Oprah Winfrey or
Bill Gates. There is certainly no wisdom in hurting yourself with this
illegitimate suffering. Moreover risking suffering ill health through overwork
in a desperate attempt to get richer is counterproductive because of the sorrow
that ill health would bring. The accumulation of wealth at the cost of physical
or mental health losses (e.g. hypertension, coronary disease and stress) is not
going to make you any happier, the reverse is likely true.

IN SUMMARY LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE TO THE MAX.
In conclusion try to attain a balance in life and understand your genetic make
up and find your niche in life. Do not try to become a billionaire because you
are not possessed with the talents of Oprah Winfrey or Bill Gates. Live your own
life not that of others.
