Cutting or trimming a beard ONLY makes it shorter... what's the point in
that?

I have at least one friend who had some of his hair (his beard too?)
straightened/relaxed/...? which apparently makes it less curly, so it
stays longer.

I guess that's one option, although honestly I think it makes more sense
to LEAVE IT BE the way it naturally is...! The best way to achieve
maximum length, I think, is with patience, care, and conditioning (to
help preent tangling, a major cause of breakage).
