In school, I heard that in the 19th century after the Civil War, the look for
men was to give the impression of being physically capable and hard working.
Having lots of facial hair was considered part of that look.
It's my intention to have a long beard! However, work has been stepping on that
idea. I've had to settle for a "boxed beard"...
