After bariatric surgery people experience new challenges both physically and emotionally. In the beginning, relearning what to eat is often very difficult as their whole relationship to food has changed. Plus, for many embarking on a daily exercise program for the first time can be intimidating.

We always refer to the surgery as one “tool” on a path to a healthier lifestyle. Weight loss success is made up of many components beyond surgery; one of them is the SUPPORT GROUP.

The group is run by a New Jersey Bariatric Center registered dietician with lectures on exercise, nutrition, image changes etc... Guest speakers, Dr. Goyal, Dr. Forrester or Dr. Jack are regularly invited to speak on healthy living.

The remainder of the evening is for patients to share information. This meeting is for all patients, not just those who may be having problems. Hearing success stories is extremely important to patients who are struggling with their new lifestyle.
