Jim,

What type of fraud do you investigate? Fraud investigation is the bulk

Dear Fellow members:

Besides being a karate practicioner, I am also a fraud investigator
and it looks like I may have been a target of a scam by this
company. I ordered 2 books and a video in mid-July. I did receive the
video, however, never received the books. I emailed them as I noted a
typo in my mailing address, this email went unheeded for some time,
several subsequent emails later, I received a note from their
President, Don Warrener stating that their books were mailed from
their Canadian wearhouse and may take a week or longer to be
delivered across the border.

After a phone call and some more emails, I asked the CD if anyone
ever had any dealings with this company and received several private
mailings of warnings. The same evening, that I posted on the CD my
query, I received a call from this company stating that "they had not
received my book order from their Los Angeles location, but they
mailed the order yesterday and extended an apology."

To date, I have yet to receive my order. SO I would caution anyone
attempting to do business with this company. They appear to be less
than legit.

Hello all,

Has anyone had any experiences with this company? I ordered 2 books
and a
video in mid-July. I received the video promptly, but did not receive
the
books.
I noted a typo on my address and sent an e mail, and received a reply
from Don
Warrener, their President citing that they shipped the books from
their
Canadian wearhouse and the order would be arriving in another 10 or
14 days.

It is now mid-September and all my e mails and phone calls to this
company
have gone unheeded. Has anyone else had any similar problems??

Thanks,

Jim Prouty

I have emailed Mr. Warrener several times and decided not to do
business with them because he doesn't recommend his own books and
videos (from his own company). I figured someone that doesn't
recommend their own books and videos from their own company isn't
worth doing business with. If you know you didn't make a good video
or write a good book DON'T PUBLISH IT!... I personally did not feel
at ease with what he said and the fact that I had to send several
emails to get a reply. I hope this helps.

O.K. That gives everyone a chance to sorta guage what you are after. One is
not necessarily better than the other but if you don't have a preference, or
possibly even if you do, go for the class with the best teacher. I don't
know if these people have a Dojo in your area or not but you might check out
www.imgka.com Theirs is Okinawan Goju under Yagi Metatsu Sensei Judan.

Another thing that might help is which particular style of Goju would you be
after. There are several. You might at least mention whether you would
prefer Japanese Goju or Okinawan Goju. If you don't care or don't know the
difference then that would be good information to know so we can give you
good information.

I would be interested in knowing who hosts traditional karate tournaments in Ontario, Canada. We will be hosting our 15th annual tournament in April, so we would like to invite everyone to ours, and we would like information on tournaments that we are also welcome to attend. Our interest is friendship amongst fellow traditional karate practitioners, regardless of association or affiliation. Please forward any information or interest to me personally at djmeech@...

Finally, I heard something worth respondig to, only your own abilities will serve you on the field of battle. and the truths that you will ultimately learn, experience and insperience will come about through your own effort and hard work, which no one else can quantify and/or qualify. I have watched, for years, martial political
misgivings on various discussion groups. It was no
different when the lists appeared on the old
listservers than it is now on Yahoo! groups.

What has amazed me is the longevity of some rather
nefarious arguments that continue to thrive for no
apparent reason.

In the end, it makes no difference who trains with
whom (not to me, not to you, not to your students, et
al), only that we train. Who cares what is claimed by
one by, or for, another? As I have seen posted on
several occassions, rank is artificial--what is NOT
artificial is the ability of the practitioner.

Personally, one person' s truth is another's lie, and
neither mean anything to me; only my own self
understanding is relevant, only my personal history is
applicable to what I do, and only my limited knowledge
matters when it's time to step up to the plate.

I think it is heir apparent that neither Matt or Mike
care for one another. I think that both parties have
aired their views on the various subjects that have
come to bear. This continual debacle has continued
for years, with neither relenting because each believe
their own side. What matters to me is this: I know
Matt, have worked out with him, and know him to be
fully capable. My teacher has worked out with Mike
Jones (and I have the video of the meeting), and he
(my teacher) was very complimentary of Mike's
abilities. Ultimately, this is ALL that
matters--nothing more, nothing less.

Let this demon die......we all grow weary of it.

Silly you, I am here to pay attention and learn from everyone... Even Wally Platt, I choose to use what works for me.  For the record Wally Platt and his CMAC cult is not in my good books and I have moved on.  I however have been able to learn from my experiences... and Respect Earned is Respect Granted-something I always believed in before the tainted CMAC clan.
I am with a wonderful School in Markham now and my Sensei is absolutely amazing the whole enviornment is really great and positive. After going from club to club I was in search for somewhere to be able to grow my Sensei is someone I really do respect-finally.  Karate is part of my life and who I am it is very important to me, and I am still training even after CMAC, I do not let the past hinder my progress...  You have actually touch a little nerve with me regarding CMAC.  You don't know me very well and have no idea about what I have experienced with this club.  I have seen how they treat those who are at their service and early on I have gotten the F@#% right out ....  Cancelled my cheques.  I am not afraid to challenge Wally and his heavies, I was very lucky un-like some people (MANY MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE SOME VERY NEAR AND DEAR).  I will not discuss what happened because I don't believe in taking about negative things, but Please see "... http://www.e-budo.com" under "...Bad Budo..." you will find a thread called "...CMAC stole my Dojo and My Money..." this is something which almost effected my training and my perception of Karate Schools, associations, and the great evil sensei's...
It is really unfortunate that you would feel that my brain is clogged with Wally Platt's nonsense.  So my dear please chill we are not against each other we are here to learn and discuss and air out any issues I understand where you are coming from though this topic is very touchy.  I feel that my history speaks for it's self (if I am to be in the position in defending myself-which I don't believe is really my priority)...

ANY QUESTIONS????

END OF DISCUSS????  if not then keep it coming and please do some research before you jump on me ok my dear... Have a wonderful day.

No argument from me on this one.

Very interesting. So this Busaganashi is considered a dream archetype
of Martial Arts? The moving/living energy behind all the
movements/methods? (Shiva-Shakti?)
Perhaps there are things in common here with the Kundalini energy of
Kundalini Yoga - rising to a more complete state of being, or as Dr.
Jung would have called it, Individuation. The giving over f oneself
to the Unconcious.

I've often come to the point of completely losing myself in Kata,
after the completion of the Kata it is like I remember what was going
on, but it felt more like Kata performance was in a dream. (Dunno
really how else to describe it, I've done the same thing with free-
sparring and Bunkai, my Sensei, Mike Dascenzo calls it Mushin).
In Aikido Class we did a warm up using pens. You had to get with a
partner holding a pen up with your index finger then close your eyes
and move around without letting the Pen drop. The thing is, if you
thought about it, then Pen was sure to drop and then you had to start
all over again.

I find that this simple principle runs all throughout Karate, indeed,
many of the Arts that I've had the opportunity of experiencing.
I fid it very intriguing how Martial Arts and Jung's Analytical
Psychology intertwine together, atleast that is how I notice it on my
end of the existential spectrum. :)

I have watched, for years, martial political
misgivings on various discussion groups. It was no
different when the lists appeared on the old
listservers than it is now on Yahoo! groups.

What has amazed me is the longevity of some rather
nefarious arguments that continue to thrive for no
apparent reason.

In the end, it makes no difference who trains with
whom (not to me, not to you, not to your students, et
al), only that we train. Who cares what is claimed by
one by, or for, another? As I have seen posted on
several occassions, rank is artificial--what is NOT
artificial is the ability of the practitioner.

Personally, one person's truth is another's lie, and
neither mean anything to me; only my own self
understanding is relevant, only my personal history is
applicable to what I do, and only my limited knowledge
matters when it's time to step up to the plate.

I think it is heir apparent that neither Matt or Mike
care for one another. I think that both parties have
aired their views on the various subjects that have
come to bear. This continual debacle has continued
for years, with neither relenting because each believe
their own side. What matters to me is this: I know
Matt, have worked out with him, and know him to be
fully capable. My teacher has worked out with Mike
Jones (and I have the video of the meeting), and he
(my teacher) was very complimentary of Mike's
abilities. Ultimately, this is ALL that
matters--nothing more, nothing less.

Let this demon die......we all grow weary of it.

Sorry Fernando but this is altogether too pesimistic for me. I have to
disagree. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do
nothing! Thus I feel we all have to act/think in positive ways. For this
reason I do not participate in political fights NOR do I start them. Indeed
this is one of the things that can ( and has been a factor ) in driving me
away from a Dojo.
