Meiji-ya was already moved to somewhere else, but the old building where
once Miyagi Sensei had given a historic lecture still exists in the center
of busy Osaka city. You can see the photo of this building.

"HISTORICAL OUTLINE OF KARATE-DO, MARTIAL ARTS OF RYUKYU by Chojun Miyagi,
Original Remarks: This essay was written and prepared by Master Chojun
Miyagi especially for the club members when he gave us the lecture "About
Karatedo" and its demonstration at the lecture hall on the 4th floor of
Meiji Shoten at Sakaisuji, Osaka on 28th January 1936."

Re: the lecture hall in 1936 and 2003
On this Wednesday, 19th February 2003, I actually visited "the lecture hall
on the 4th floor of Meiji Shoten at Sakaisuji, Osaka" where Chojun Miyagi
gave the lecture on karate sixty-seven years ago. On the 4th floor there
are a few offices instead of the lecture hall. This building of "Meiji
Shoten" was built in 1924, about eighty years ago and still remain the same
as before, facing the very busy street whose name is Sakaisuji. At that
time this building was the most modern building in Osaka. Sakaisuji area is
also called Sakaisuji-Honmachi. It is the center of commerce in Osaka and
there are many textile or garment shops and trading companies.
Meiji Shoten is now called Meiji-Ya (also spelled Meidi-Ya), which is one
of the biggest food
wholesaler specializing in imported foods and scotch whiskey. From the
subway station
"Sakaisuji-Honmachi" you can go there on foot within three minutes. Of
course you cannot find Miyagi Sensei there any longer.
