P.S.
In 1866, the kata "Sesan" was demonstrated at Uchaya Udun (= a villa of King
of Ryukyu) in Sakiyama, Shuri, Okinawa. Besides Sesan, Suparinpe and kobudo
such as Sai, Bo, Tohai (Tinbe) were demonstrated by the high-ranking
officials of the Ryukyu Kingdom (= now Okinawa). Sesan was performed by Mr.
Arakaki, who was the Interpreter of Chinese language. There are kata-s named
Sesan in various Okinawan karate styles such as Uechi-ryu, Shorin-ryu and
Isshin-ryu. I think they have a common roots.
