Welcome! I am not on that other board for something similar to what you
describe. At 54 I hope I'm a little beyond petty rules ( not rules in
general just petty ones ). I could never figure out what was & what wasn't
allowed on that board. It seems to be just what the moderator feels like at
the particular moment that matters. I am NOT offended by the invitation to
read anything that may have to do with the martial arts. After all how on
topic can you be?

That said, I too have read various articles on this term & all I have got,
is confused. I wasn't aware of this one but I've had experiences with the
author so I won't be reading it. I wouldn't feel as though I could trust the
scholarship & I would be looking for the hidden agenda & the bias that I
would feel had to be there. WE seldom use this word where I attend & I guess
that this is all to the good. I also took a seminar one time that was led by
a tenth Dan Hanshi from Naha Okinawa. Not once did I hear this word. From
this I would conclude that it just isn't used as frequently as one might
think.
