IDK the answer, but here is my story - It's been a year since CD diagnosis and I
still can't have any dairy in any form... not even in gf bread, cookies, chips,
etc. IDK... if you were to reintroduce, I would try things that are lower in
lactose... hard cheese, yogurt.

I was poisoned with dairy a couple weeks ago and spent all night in the
bathroom. It'll be a while before I try dairy on purpose. :-(

Other ppl on the internet support groups have told me it took 1-1/2 to 2 years
before they could have dairy again.

Hope your mom is doing well.

My mom is experiencing some food intolerances. She isn’t able to see a doctor, but she is eliminating gluten, soy, and dairy, as those seem to definitely bother her. I never experienced an intolerance to soy or dairy, but I know others do for a while until they’ve cut out gluten for a while. Does anyone have a recommendation as to how long she should wait until reintroducing soy and dairy?

My other question is about the Wasabi restaurant. Has anyone eaten there? Any recommendations/warnings/comments? My husband wanted to try it out.

Thanks!

Tetan

LaNova uses vinchets pizza which you can purchase as Dash's supermart or right at the bakery where they sell many gf baked goods they are located on Kensington near the King and I restaurant. Also PF Changs opened in Galleria Mall has a gf menu look on line and there food is real good. http://www.buffaloglutenfree.org/home.html this is the website for the western NY gluten free diet support group lots of info.

Hey Kathy and all

Are you aware that you can purchase  GF pizza crusts from Curley's as well.  I have eaten there several times and they have a wonderful GF menu plus food is fantastic.  You can ask to purchase the pizza crusts to take out when dining in or just stopping by.....

For those that want to try another crust..Wegmans has a thin, large, 3 cheese pizza crust in their freezer section.  Amazing! for those that like crisp, thin crust.  Don't remember the brand name off hand because I always cook and eat it all :)  Next time I buy one, I'll post the name.

Also, Isabella's Italian Deli, Buffalo St., in Hamburg has yummy gluten free bread, REAL bread crumbs and now offering other GF products.  I was told that you can call ahead to make sure these are in stock and you can place orders. Any sandwich on their menu can be made on GF bread and their menu/food in really worth trying!

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hello all GF people
I have enjoyed mighty taco on a GF diet for 5 yrs now. It is really the ONLY WNY fast food place you can actually get a real MEAL and still be GF. The addition of the white cheese being GF is great as have always paid an up charge for grated sharp cheese.

As far as pizza goes I have good news. I recently had 2 GF pizzas fro 3 area places. I had a GF pizza from La Nova. It is a great convenience to be able to ORDER pizza and not make it so it is a very nice option. The pizza was just OK but nice to have it delivered! On the other hand last week I had an OUTSTANDING pizza at Curlys in Lackawanna . They have a GF pizza of the day every day of the week and it was BY FAR THE BEST GF pizza I have ever had.  Lastly I enjoyed EXCELLENT pizza at the north town plaza at My tomato pie. It is a nice sit down place and has a GF menu and is open for lunch so that is  fabulous!

Well hope this is good info for all of you GF people.

Great news!

In the past you needed to have the regular cheese (processed) removed and then have then use cheddar cheese (at an added charge).  Are we to assume that this is no longer the case?

On that note, a few weeks ago, I heard a commercial on a Toronto radio station for Pizza Nova saying they carry GF pizza. If you are in the area and want pizza, good to know.

That would be a good thing to ask them, just to make sure. Is it one of the cheeses listed in the extras? All I know is that it is white. This is so amazing that they are doing this. I can’t get over all the commercials and labels I’ve seen popping up lately stating gluten-free status. It is so cool. My mom thinks she might be experiencing gluten-intolerance, like I have. These types of things are going to be so helpful to her. I’m glad I can help her to navigate this difficult time in her life.

Mighty Taco now has their gluten free items listed on their website!  (Under the "Food" option, the link is at the bottom of the page.)

GF Bread is good in stuffing. If you make turkey with the regular stuffing you can NOT eat the turkey. The non GF bread absorbs into turkey meat.

Pumpkin pie filling is GF. You can make pie without the crust or make it form the GF pantry crust mix. 1 mix makes 2 9 inch crusts. It is very good./ You can also buy a pkg of 2 pre made frozen GF pie shells. I think Feel rite has them in the freezer.  All the sides are GF....Cranberry, potatoes, green beans- but not the green bean casserole unless you make it with GF mushroom soup. Cool whip for the pie is GF. You can make apple crisp instead of apple pie- that would be GF since no crust. You can make rolls GF with the Cheebe bread mix.

Good luck. It will be good.

Hi,
This will be my first gf thanksgiving. Do you have any advice?
Does gf bread hold up in stuffing? Thanks.
