Hi!

Question: I am trying a finger nail product with "wheat protein" as an
ingredient. I know that you have to be careful with things like toothpaste,
meds, etc. that you ingest, but what about external use like nail polish? Does
anyone know if this is safe?

Thanks!

It depends on your own personal reaction. Technically, the product must be ingested to affect you. Some people who get the dermatitis (can’t remember the term) opt to stay away from gluten in all forms, and some swear that topical application causes the dermatitis. I suppose, if you were worried about the product getting into your mouth—eating with your hands or biting nails, you might choose to stay away from something like this. In short, it is a debated topic when it comes to personal care items. Use your own best judgment.
