INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY WORKSHOP - OCTOBER 3-5
ACGIH Professional Learning Center - Cincinnati, Ohio
Indoor air quality concerns have called health and safety
professionals, facility
engineers, designers, and managers, as well as other disciplines into a
vast
array of public and private buildings and occupational settings. It is
increasingly
common that air quality investigations are conducted in offices,
schools, residential
buildings, government offices, health care facilities, and numerous
other indoor
environments. Today's public and workforce spend approximately 90% of
their day
indoors and a top complaint of occupants is consistently related to
health and comfort
issues such as air quality (e.g., irritants, toxins, pathogens),
temperature, humidity, and
odors. However, much of the information available on Indoor
Environmental Quality is
conflicting and inconsistent. The objective of this 3-day workshop is
to provide practical,
hands-on information on the fundamentals of building pollutants,
thermal comfort,
and building ventilation and their relationship to good indoor
environmental quality.
During this workshop, attendees will have the unique opportunity to
hear multiple
viewpoints on how indoor environmental factors influence comfort,
health, and safety.
The workshop will be presented in an interactive format, providing open
discussion
and hands-on demonstration to enhance the science. Hands-on
demonstrations
will be presented on such topics as:
~ Pressure differentials
~ Interpreting CO2 data
~ Psychrometrics and thermal comfort
~ HVAC inspection
~ Airflow measurement
~ Estimating ventilation rate
Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will gain an understanding
of:
~ The health effects associated with building environments
~ How to control building pollutants during normal building operation
and construction
and renovation activity
~ Indoor air quality management programs
~ The basics of building investigations and investigation tools
~ The fundamentals of building pollutants
The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) will award 3.0
Certification
Maintenance (CM) Points upon completion of this Workshop. The Board of
Certified
Safety Professionals (BCSP) will award 1.5 Continuance of Certification
(COC)
Points upon completion of this Workshop.
MOLD, MOISTURE AND REMEDIATION WORKSHOP - NOVEMBER 13-16
ACGIH Professional Learning Center - Cincinnati, Ohio
Seats are still available for the November edition of ACGIH's popular
Mold, Moisture
and Remediation Workshop. The workshop will be presented November
13-16 at
the ACGIH Professional Learning Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Taught by
the
country's leading experts, this 4-day workshop will present attendees
with practical
hands-on information and in-depth experience regarding mold remediation
methods,
as well as a clear plan and strategy for sampling that can be
implemented in the
workplace.
The American Board of Industrial Hygiene will award 4.0 Industrial
Hygiene
Certification Maintenance Points upon completion of this workshop. The
Board of
Certified Safety Professionals has approved this workshop for 2.0
Continuance
of Certification Points.
