Subject: Declining Sex Ratio Among First Nation's community in Canada
Recently Environmental Health Perspectives published an article on the
declining sex ratio found among a First Nation's community in Sarnia
Ontario. Their land is adjacent to the largest complex of petrochemical
facilities in Canada. This finding has generated considerable media
attention in both the United States and Canada because of the significance
that it has regarding the potential impact of hormonal disruption due to
environmental contaminants.
One interesting article (whose link is attached) appeared in a business
magazine that is inserted periodically into the Toronto Globe and Mail. It
reports on the health problems of the First Nation's community as well as
the overall problems of environmental contamination in this region of
Ontario.
