Register now and save $50 for Building Science: Understanding and
Controlling Moisture in Buildings, February 14-16, 2005, taught by Hal
Levin, Fellow, ASHRAE and Francis "Bud" J. Offermann, MSME, PE, CIH. The
class will be at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, CA. For
full course details and to register visit www.aiha.org/ce.htm.
This three-day intensive course covers building science fundamentals as
they relate to moisture control. The course will address a range of
climate conditions but it will not address the special problems of hot
humid climates. Assessment of moisture pathways as a result of various
moisture transport mechanisms including air pressure differentials between
spaces within a building and between the building and its surroundings
will be examined. Moisture diagnostics in existing buildings as well as
design considerations for new buildings will be covered.
Participants will be able to recognize and evaluate actual and potential
moisture problems in building components (including foundations, walls,
and roofs) as well in building systems (including plumbing and mechanical
systems). The successful student will be able to provide design guidance
to control moisture in new projects or in remediation, and management of
existing buildings.
This course is designed around the real needs of professionals who deal
with the design, management, operation, and improvement of modern
buildings, such as Industrial hygienists, Facility managers and designers,
and anyone concerned about IAQ, with special emphasis on moisture and
moisture-related problems
