Final Agenda for Third Videoconference – Responding to Flooding in Central Europe

Topic:  Mosquito Control and Prevention of the Spread of West Nile Virus to Human Populations

Background:

In response to last August's floods in Central Europe members of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's International Affairs Committee, and colleagues in the United States and Canada have organized to offer technical assistance to government and non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic, one of the worst affected areas.

Initial steps included the identification of individuals with pertinent experience and collection/dissemination of electronic information resources.  The objective of the first videoconference held on January 16, 2003 was to assess short-term and long-term technical assistance needs for flood remediation and clean up operations, and to identify resources and specific plans for collaboration.  The purpose of the second videoconference on March 20th was to follow up on the action items identified earlier, and continue to broaden and build on the relationships.

The theme of the third videoconference scheduled for June 26th will be on mosquito control measures and the threat of spread of the West Nile virus into human populations.
