On December 15, 2006, the American College of Occupational and Environmental
Medicine convened a webinar on “Pandemic Flu Preparedness: Respirator
Guidelines
and Use” .

ACOEM is pleased to offer occupational health care professionals a one-hour
CD
based on this webinar. The webinar focuses on the interim guidelines
developed
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the use of mask
and
respirators in healthcare settings during an influenza pandemic. The CDC has
now
released these interim guidelines which can be found at

Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:

* provide an update on the potential for an influenza pandemic;
* present an overview of the new CDC’s Interim Guidelines on surgical mask
and
respirators in healthcare settings; and
* discuss the types of respirators available, appropriate use and fitting of
personal protective equipment.
