Hi Robin,

I am glad that I am not the only
one. Funny. I agree with you that it makes sense that
Yahoo must be in transitions to the groups. I will
check both sites till this settles down.

Take
care,
Lu

I have also experienced some odd things with the clubs lately. I think that
Yahoo must be working on the transition to groups.

Something funny is going on...you may want to log
on in yahoo clubs or groups. If one does not work
try the other. Tonight I went into groups, after I
could not get into clubs...but then I could not get
there and so I tryed clubs and I was in glimmer again?
I have been having a hard time checking the yahoo
clubs...perhaps it is in transition?

Hi everybody, we are now yahoo group and not
yahoo clubs. So our new web site address is
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/glimmercoloredfilterglasses you can
drop this site in your favorites so you
can get back to it.

I hope every body is
doing good. I am going to be gone Friday and Saturday
and I will be back Sunday. I have Holiday burn out
and so I am going on a much needed short trip with my
husband for some RR. Take care every body, and I hope
that you all have a Happy New Years.

My
colored filter contacts have a very small chip on the
rim. I can still wear them, but I think it is time to
get some new ones. I am so sad, but I have to go look
for a new eye doctor as the last one was not
supportive with my tinted contacts or SSS. Also, she kept
shining the lights in my eyes even when I told her about
my light sensitivity...with some little flash light
that caused me to have a grand mall. Bad Eye Doctor.
People who do not suffer from light sensitivity seizures
have no heart for us who do...they are bad and one is
too many for me. Ahh well...I will see what life
brings to me...

Hi Terri,

I am so sorry to hear your
daughter is still having grand malls. Robin shared with me
about the person you went to for testing and that she
suggested to you to only get the frames. It is so hard to
get the frames for the glasses unless you already had
the glasses and your eye doctor will place them in
and the lenses are a perfect match. Other than that I
don't see how you will be able to succeed. I recomend
that you call Helen Irlen's Institute and speak to
Harvey and see what he recommends.

I hope that
you were able to recover from the holidays. I was
having a very hard time accessing yahoo clubs until
right now. Sometimes the servers in this area go down?
I have not figured it out.

I am glad to
hear that you have had success with her wearing the
eye patch. Anything that comes together fires hope. I
pray that there will be more for you.

I don't
know why your daugher rubs her eyes like she
does...lets hope that she will grow out of it.

Lu

Hi everyone,
Testing for my daughter showed no
visual distortions , but severe light sensitivity. She
did the best she could during the testing, given her
many disabilities. We will get the lenses in about one
month and then go looking for frames. I'm hoping to
find some with a top shield to block out light and
some side shielding also. Wish me luck! She had four
Grand Mals the week before Christmas, one ambulance
ride to our local Hospital and three days later a
helicopter ride to our Childrens Hospital forty miles
away. She's doing great now, and we had a very nice
Christmas.
Happy New Year - Terri B

Hi Lu,
I haven't been online in a while, busy
time of year! I'm excited for the 28th to get here for
my daughters appt at the urlin clinic in Toledo
Ohio.
I am also concerned, like you mentioned, that she
will keep them on, but I have to at least try.Bad day
yesterday..two grand mals within two hours of each other, an
ambulance ride, ect. She came out pretty well and even went
to school today. I'm worried because she's never had
two before, and the second seizure was NOT light
induced (I witnessed it)This has never happened without
self induction in the light. The first one happened in
the bathroom in the early morning. I found her on the
floor, the noise woke me up (light sleeper)
The only
light on was a night light, but it did have a white
bulb in it. My husband went out that day and bought
dark blue bulbs for all our nightlights. She used to
wear armbraces on her arms to keep her from reaching
her face(they were straight), but she has in the last
month or two gone to wearing an eyepatch on her right
eye (it's only this one eye)In the past she would
never leave it on , but for whatever reason she has
been very good at putting it on and not bothering it.
She wears it all day at school and doesn't touch it.
This is a HUGE step forward for her to be able to have
some control over this very strong compulsion!!!We
don't make her wear it at home because we don't want to
cause any ill effects to that eye by never using it! So
there is some hope that if we find the right tint of
glasses for her she will be able to leave them on. I've
always felt that this strong compulsion she feels to rub
her eye in light comes from whatever sensations she
gets from doing it, like a junkie I suppose. Do you
have any ideas what she is experiencing to make her
like it or be drawn to it so strongly??? We have also
seen her do it at times of stress , excitement,
embarressment. I have to go now it's late and I'm beat!!!The
next few days are hectic so I might not be online
again for awhile.
Bye,
terri

Hi Terri,

Just download messenger, you
already have a yahoo account so that is all you need. I
will be most happy to walk you through it. It is a
nice way to stay in touch with everybody. You can make
yourself invisible, say that you are busy etc so you will
not get overwhelmed. Also, you can send anyone with
messenger a message even if they are not on. Just a
thought.

Lu

Hi Terri,

This is Lu Hurley, I am so sorry
about not responding to you. The trouble was that this
club is suppose to be set up where everybody recieves
the emails sent to everyone in this club through
e-mail. Sorry, with Robins help she was nice to call me
yesterday and I figured it out. Yikes! I will check this
site as well.

I suffer from seizures from
exposure to the light as well. I will answer your emails
one by one as this will make it easier for me. Please
print them out if they help you and keep a file for you
to refer to in the future in your attemp to help
your daughter. I am so very sorry to hear the pain and
suffering you must be going through with your daughter. I
know it must be very hard.

Do you currently go
or have you gone to a neurologist who is
epelotogist? Who studies the patterns of siezures and where in
the brain they are originating from? I know when I
went to see mine he was very instrumental in helping
me to use techniques to help me out of a siezure.

When I was tested for Helen Irlen Glasses it has made
a significant turn around in my seizures and the
color filter glasses help prevent them! It sure is
worth a try. The only thing that concernes me if your
daughter will keep them on. How old is she? Please have
the e-mail sent to your email address.

Lu

hopefordyslexia - No I didn't get your message
because I'm embarressed to say I don't know how to use
the yahoo instant messenger you talked about. Why
don't you just post your experiences that you think
might be helpful to me, otherwise we may never get
anywhere with this thanks to my inexperience-sorry.I'm
hoping the Irlen Institute will at least help my
daughter a little bit. She has an overwhelming compulsion
to rub her right eye in any light source, which
brings on her seizures. They only happen if she rubs her
eye. It seems as though a blue tinted sunglass has
helped to cut down on the compulsion slightly. This is
the only thing that has in 6 years!!!!! So we travel
on...experimenting with anything and everything while at the same
time letting her neurologist keep trying with
different meds and strategies from his end.Terri

Hi Terri,
I'm so glad you found us. I
sincerely hope that Irlen filters help your daughter. I
know some people who have had a dramatic improvement
in seizures with Irlen filters. I will let them know
that you joined the club and want to talk.
I had
many major medical problems that were the result of
injuries. The doctors said I would just have to live with
the problems but miraculously the Irlen filters have
made amazing improvements in many areas that I never
dreamed they could help.
Feel free to ask any
questions or just share what your daughter and you are
going through. We are here to be supportive.
Happy
Thanksgiving and may God bless you and your family.

I will be taking my daughter to an Irlen Clinic
for screening in December. She compulsively rubs her
right eye in any light source. It causes very bad
seizures. We've been at this for 6 years now, and so far
nothing has helped. I found Irlen information on the web,
so we are going to give it a try. She has other
medical issues combined with this problem, so you can
imagine how challenging our daily life is. Has anyone
heard of or have experience with this type of
behavior.I have only been able to read about it, but I would
dearly love to talk with anyone who has experience with
it.
Sincerely,
Terri

Hi, thanks for posting your message. I'm really
happy to hear that your Irlen Filters have helped you
so much.
The filters make a major difference in
my life too. My problems were caused by a head
injury. The doctors could do nothing to help and just
told me that the problems would be permanent. I am so
thankful to the person who told me about the Irlen
Institute. My Irlen Filters have made miraculous changes in
my life.
