Re: A question for those who wear Irlen filters

Thank you for being so open and sharing your experience and your insights. I
really appreciate getting to know what others are going through and have learned
a lot. I didn't know that other people had simular struggles. Knowing that
makes me feel less tense about the difficulties my problems cause and I think I
will be able to be more at ease next time. I won't feel so stressed out if I
have trouble since I now know I am not the only one who has to take time and
repeat the process in order to get the best color match.
Thanks for explaining about the color issues too. They have tried to explain
the color change issue to me, but your description finally made it make sense.
Thank you so much.

blue or if things that dont normaly have a red tint start having red added to
their color then the color is wrong. you dont want it to change the color of
things around you. the tint is just suppose to make you more cofterable and more
relaxed so you can read and see easyer. for me my colors are light blue with a
couple dark shades of gray. at one point even when we didnt add any red when it
got too dark the things around me started to have a reder tint. so we had to
lighten it a bit.

just hard for me to get in touch with that stuff since I have spent so many
years trying to block out what is happening with my body so I can just keep
functioning. During testing, I can sense the colors that make things way worse
and communicate that. Some colors improve my vision and help my eyes to work
together, some don't and some make it worse. It's the process of narrowing down
the choices on the better colors to those that help best with my neurological
problems that gets hard. I usually have to have someone else watch me during
the testing procedure and see if they can tell what will work by outward signs
of relaxation versus tension or tremors and whether my reading, speech and
coordination improve or get worse with the different colors. With some colors I
speak more fluidly, others slow everything down but I am so focused on the
process of speaking or reading that it is hard for me to monitor myself.

when your head doesnt hurt looking through them. dont think to much just let
your body tell you what feels good looking through them. some you wont be able
to tell but the person helping you will help you through it. at first they might
need to screen you mutiple times and you might need to go back several times to
change the color but once you got the color that works for you there might be
only tini changes as your body changes as you get older year to year.

testing and looking through the colors some colors will make your head hurt more
and some will relax you. go with what relaxes you.
