I am a college student majoring in music and art. I play piano,
paint in watercolor, and am also a ceramist. I love Baroque, and
Classical music, and opera.
I have Irlen syndrome; my diagnostician says that it is severe. I
also have Asperger syndrome and epilepsy.
Fluorescent lights are the most irritating to me. I get headaches,
my eyes throb, and I feel very sleepy. The print on a page can look
very strange. All the words have halos around them. Some of the words
appear to be very light and gray. Other words are very dark. The words
that are dark appear to float above the page with the lighter words
below them. I get lost easily and read in a stop and go sort of way. I
cannot recognize words beyond the one I am reading at any certain
point. It is difficult for me to retain information under these
circumstances. I think that my Irlen syndrome contributes to my
seizures.
I have to go now.
