elisabeth,
Hello, my son is in Elementary an planning to attend "Middle
School" (6-8) next year. As far as I know (he usually open) he hasn't
had any problems with teasing, questions but nothing else. He only
seems to need his glasses at school (due to the lighting). He hasn't
mention the colored contacts, with his coloration being very dark and
only needing them in Florescent light I don't think they would work
for him anyway. (Not to mention he is lucky not to have vision
problems, per say just the perception)
We applied for him to attend a Charter School for next year
that is in an old Factory building. One thing I notice on tour was
the lighting. To keep with the age of the building they used not only
a lot of natural lighting, but very soft lighting when needed. Along
with colored walls, it seem to be very 'easy on the eye' (soft and
rich yellows and reds, along with red bricks). He was so excited, he
could tell a difference when he walked into the class rooms. He
wasn't sure how to put it into words, but that "my eye are working
different". Irlen's is a new concept around here , and even though I
get help from the educators, not much from administration.
I'm not sure that I replied with what you where looking for :o), but
it gave me chance to jump in and share, I think it's been about a year
since I posted.
Hope all of you are doing well and finding things so much visually
better :o)!
