-Hi Kim,
Welcome to our Glimmer support group. Light sensitivity is no
laughing matter. My light sensitivity became unbearable suddenly
after having a grand mall seizure from an auto accident about 6
months later. I did not tie the two together till after I got my
color filter glasses and my system calmed down. Prior to that I use
to wear these pink UV shields all the time as I learn this in an
Epileptic Support Group.
Prior to my color filters…However, the strange looks became
unbearable from my doctors etc. and I took them off…when my
seizures became worst I asked my neurologist if it was due to me
taking off my sunglasses due to light sensitivity and he said no.
He was wrong. The seriousness of light sensitivity is that your
vision is impaired, and depending on what your symptom is that you
experience.
I suggest that you keep a journal of how they become worse when you
are around light even when you have your sunglasses on, when you
take your sunglasses off, and then when you have them on. So far
sunglasses and filters do not help 100 percent all the time but they
sure do help control our symptoms and clam down our system. For me
it allowed me to become more involved in my light and be able to
complete more of my daily tasks.
Do you know when your light sensitivity worsens? It might help you
in better understanding what you are going through.
My system was calmed down significantly when I received my color
filters. I had to go through my eyes being tested to see which
colors on my glasses help me to work around the light sensitivity.
I still am challenged with florescent light, contrast light at night
from oncoming cars, etc.
I do not have a driver's license because of my seizures induced by
lights. I hope that you will read previous posts to help you better
to understand your condition of light sensitivity and how you can
help yourself from what we share. If you have any questions just
feel free to ask…
