Hi,
I just found this group, and I'm hoping to get some information/help
from it. My best friend and all of her daughters have it, and she thinks I have
it, too. I'm inclined to agree with her.
I am 51 and have ADHD, and I'm convinced I've had it since childhood.
My IQ is 120, so that's why I generally kept a B+ average through high school
and college. My downfall was my reading speed and comprehension. Grammar,
language, punctuation, and spelling were all good. There was just trouble
"translating" between the written word and my head. My depth perception is not
always the best. I don't like anything "coming at me" - balls, cars on the
other side of the road, etc. The light glare bothers me at night, too.
Since Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome is sort of neurological, why
couldn't the other senses be affected, too? Like hearing. I also think I have
hyperacusis, or sound sensitivity. My friend thinks this is a part of the Irlen
Syndrome.
What do all of you more experienced people think? Where can I find
links on these things (I don't have the attention span or the patience to spend
hours looking for something)? How have you all gotten help? Where have you
gotten help? What has helped? Anyone have problems with noise, too?
I look forward to an active group and hope to get some
answers/information soon. Thanks.
