Re: Photophobia-Please help if anyone else is having similar problems

Hi Christina,

It sounds like a bad case of light sensitivity, but the doctors you've
went to see are now prescribing medications to hope they succeed in
treating your neurological symptoms... This must be tough for you, and
I am sorry that you are going though this entire melee.

It would be good for you now to start playing detective and start a
list of any injuries you have had in the past. Medications, when you
had to go and see your doctor for something. You will have to convert
into your own medical investigator to continue to explore what the
root cause is.

In the meantime, keep trying to figure out what type of sunglasses
best help you with the light. I found some pink psychedelic when I
first started to protect myself from light sensitivity. I looked
strange as all heck, and all of my doctors discounted the need for
them. I eventually stopped wearing them, as I believed them that it
was all in my head. My symptoms got worse. Eventually, I went to have
my eyes tested for Irlen syndrome, and I have been wearing my glasses
for years for light sensitivity.

How they helped me with my symptoms: Reduced my seizures, reduced my
pain, helped me to read, helped me to write, etc The most important
part was how beneficial my glasses were to help reduce these symptoms
so that I can continue to push the envelope by regaining who I was
prior to an auto accident. I wish you continued courage and strength
to keep fighting to preserve your lifestyle.

Lu

Doctor has referred me to an Othamologist and all he could come up
with was "Dry Eyes", Then it was on to a Neurologist who suspected I
might have viral meningitis, so I had a Spinal Tap. Before all this I
had a Cat scan and Stress Test, Blood test etcs. all test shows that I
am as healthy as a horse, but all of the results came back "Negative"
Which meant that I had to keep going for tests. No I am at a stand
still. My Doctor has my on Amytriptylin and Tompama, which I am
weaning off of because it has only made my symptoms worse. Now all of
my symptoms are worse, My eyes burn constantly, I never have any
relief at all. If I am in direct sunlight or flourescent light for too
long I get very intense migraine headaches, so I wear two pairs of
sunglasses out side and one pair inside. I am still working part-time.
I don't know how much longer I will
> beable to work. I also feel very disoriented, very forgetful (as in
I will say something and before I get it out of my mouth I have
already forgotten what I have said) My equilibrium is thrown off, I
have trouble walking straight sometimes, and my speech is also
affected. I have had all of these sysmptoms from the begining they are
just more exagerated then they were. I can't think straight at all.
Please email a message if you are experieincing the same as me. If so,
have you gotten any results as far as a diagnosis and a treatment?
Anything would be greatly appreaciated at this point, because now I
have nothing to go on.
