My 16 year old son, 13 year old daughter and I were recently diagnosed with
Irlen
syndrome. Neither of my children have ever worn glasses, but are both game to
try Irlen
lenses. I am hoping that it will help with their intense fatigue at the end of
the school day.
Myself, I am barely able to function after even half a day in my medical office
since we
converted to an electronic record system. My concern is that I have worn
glasses with a
fairly complex prescription for many years, and I am not sure that they can be
tinted as
they are some kind of special Zeiss multifocal lens. I have 2 pair, one for
"regular" wear
and an RDA pair (room distance accomadation) for computer work. Does anyone
have any
comments on wearing Irlen tinted contacts as well as multifocal lenses? Also,
one of the
most comfortable lights that I have in my house is a neodynium full spectrum
flood light.
they are pricey but some people might find them helpful. One company that makes
them
is Verilux, and I usually have to special order them (I haven't tried on line).
They also
make full spectrum flurescents but I can't handle those.
I am so glad that I stumbled onto this web site. This seems to be a diagnosis
that could
still use a lot of research into treatment.
