Hi,
I just got in from my trip from Colorado, and read the post made while
I was out. I was thinking that maybe you might get help for your child
if you go through one of the dyslexia organizations. You may have a
better chance there, than fighting for Irlen that unfortunately is not
as recognized as dyslexia, and in order for you to try to get help for
your daughter at her school. I have listed the searched I made on the
Internet on Dyslexia below:
http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/dyslexia/dyslexia.htm This web site
is from our government and they have listed some organizations to
contact for information.
Some others are:
http://www.dyslexia.com/ Davis Dyslexia Association International
Books & Materials: 1-888-999-3324 Workshops & Certification:
1-888-805-7216 Fax: 1-650-692-7075 / Local Phone: 1-650-692-7141
http://www.interdys.org/ The International Dyslexia Association.
http://www.jwor.com/dyslexia.htm Good definitions on dyslexia
http://www.dyslexia-inst.org.uk/ Dyslexia Institute in the UK.
Good Luck,
Lu

specific diagnosis. I am now dealing with the school for the fourth
year. My daughter was diagnosed in Kindergarten. I have had to prove
to the teachers and principles every year. This year we switched
schools and are having even more problems. In past years, I could
convince the school to accomodate her needs. This year the school
wants a 504 plan or there will be no accomodation. I am all for the
plan, but the teacher does not want to help and is trying to disprove
the need. ie.... having her read without glasses and refusing to use
colored paper. I have provided the paper and offered to copy the
papers myself.
