Hi Tesa,
How is you son doing? Has he gotten any more help with his color
overlays? I also have 20/20, need to get planos in regular glasses or
when I used contacts, then I would have them tinted, I also use
purple. Not completely like your son, but I found it such a
coincidence that he has 20/20, and needs to use purple.
The last time I went, Helen wish she had another set of overlays to
try on me, because it was realized the tints were not exactly right.
However, I still can't live without my sunglasses. I would be utterly
lost, when I am alone like in an airports, lights, noise, people, and
it becomes quite a challenge for me to read the arrivals, departures,
delays...let alone hear what people are saying to me because my system
has sensory overload from too much stimulation. Helen's color filter
glasses help calm my system down, in order for me to navigate in
public places.

old is your son and who found out that he has SSS. We changed school
districts last year and the new school found this out....my son is 14
and in 9th grade....he has always made A and B however we have pushed
him all these years...and now it is so sad to know how he has
struggled to stay up with the rest of the class.....the Taks test is
what would be the worst....he always passed, however he would be so
sick after 3 days of testing....and last year the school was able to
copy his test in his color....my son is double purple, and that is so
deep purple that they can't make an overlay to fit him..he does have
an overlay and it does help but he still doesn't see like me and I
feel I need to get him all the help that is possible so he can see the
way I see...the more they add colors together the blurrier it gets for
him...he does not wear glasses(eye sight is 20/20) and he writes on a
very dark purple/blueish

wonderful to him and we know that God is the one that opened the door
for him to transfer to that school....he does play sports and always
has(basketball) and is extremely good at it....so he doesn't have the
depth perception----now that we can see.....I have called a Dr. in
Baytown and she is to call me back....I am pretty sure that we will go
see her for filters....he only sees one or two LETTERS at a
time....and I am going today to the book store to buy a large print
dictionary....he let me know last night that he couldn't see the small
print.
