Update on my light sensitivity and light induced seizures   Message List

Well, I am glad that I waited before posting my update here again. I
waited several months after I obtained my prescription from my eye
doctor who was very respectful of my light sensitivity when giving me
the eye exam (I suffer from light induced seizures). However,
something odd started to happen to me after that eye examination and
that is my light sensitivity changed. I was wearing the same color
filter glasses since 1998 prescribed by Helen Irlen. One for indoors
(lighter) and one for outdoors (darker). The only other difference
was in 2002 when I obtain color contacts. Then in 2002 something odd
happened where my pattern of light sensitivity changed.

I was nervous, happy, confused, yet relieved. I discovered a change
in my light sensitivity when one of my contacts fell out for about 3
hours (more or less), and I had not realized it. Impossible! I was
extremely light sensitive, supported by having auras (precursor to a
seizer) or a seizure. My eye system (CNS, or another unknown origin)
did not care being exposed to light. Being surprised and okay, I
took the other one off to see what would happen. I made sure I laid
in bed while I waited. I was on pins and needles. Laying there
quietly. I was stumped when my physical system did not get out of
electrical order. I went about my life.

However, I could not wear the same color lenses anymore. I waited,
and waited, and waited because it was hard for me to understand the
symptoms my body was having then, as everything seemed so different
for me now. How could it be possible that my severe symptoms were
significantly reduced? I even took a trip to UCLA to make sure that
I was okay. I was confused. I really thought something was wrong with
me as I started to fear that my retinas became detached or something.
Coincidently my eyes became very dry as well and I did not know this.
If you have ever experience this it is very uncomfortable.

I remember that the only thing I did different was placing a drop of
oil (part lavender and part grape seed extract) in both my eyes by
mistake several weeks earlier. I got dressed and groomed myself in
the dark. I make my own beauty products, and accidentally grabbed one
of my beauty products by mistake thinking it was colloidal silver
(natural antibiotic) to place in my eyes before placing my contacts
on. The bottles I use were very similar as I buy them from a health
food store. I learned by placing a drop of colloidal silver in each
eye before placing my contacts on prevented my eyes from getting
infected from wearing contacts.

I went for a check up with Helen Irlen around May 2003. I thought my
light sensitivity was over for me only to realize on that day's
examination that I needed different color filter glasses now. I even
cried during the examination as my vision became crisp, clear, and I
could see the edges of things the way I use to prior to my auto
accident in 92. Unfortunately or fortunately, this only happens
under certain conditions of light.

Now, I wear my glasses as needed. When my system gets sensory
overload from the light I put them back on. Especially when it starts
to get chronic. If my symptoms are not so chronic on a good day then
I can tolerate not having them on all of the time. Sometimes I am in
between now because I think my body is healing from light sensitive.
I don't know to what extent. I still suffer from light induced
seizures so I don't go anywhere without them. At home I am never far
from them to grab when I need them. They help me control my light
induced seizures.

A chiropractor I was going to hurt my neck very badly because he was
convinced he could cure my light induced seizures. I fired the
chiropractor but on the light side I learned that when my neck is
acting up my light sensitivity gets worse? I am still observing all
of these new developments. I will keep you posted.

Love, Health, Peace, and Wealth to you,
Lu
