Hello Patrick, your name sounds familiar from the Panax Group. My name
is Bruce, I believe we have communicated before. What I do to make
ammendments to my soil is go to my local Ministry of Agriculture (in
Canada) and pick-up soil analysis kits. Follow the instructions of the
kit and send to one of the Accredited Testing Labs. It takes about 6
weeks for results and costs about $30.00. You then take your analysis
to your local Co-op store and follow their advice. You are close to an
acceptable range, maybe you could add organic matter to lower the pH,
but the testing lab will tell you exactly what you need. One of our
planting sites had a pH of 7.7 and we lowered it to 6.2 using Sulphur
and organic matter over a 2 year period. We also had to add Mag and
Potash to achieve close to a 10:1 Mag/Calcium Ratio. This information
is all available from the results of your soil analysis. Hope this
helps.
Bruce
