I've been a traveling woman lately, and will continue
to be, but will try to keep up with my messages. I
hope in the meantime you are disputing your negative
thoughts and filling your head with positive ones.
I'm going to continue on the same thread that I was on
before. Many of us try to recover for all the wrong
reasons. Some are that our family wants us to, we
don't want to disappoint our therapists, we are tried
of people telling us to eat or not to eat, etc.
Rarely do you hear that someone does it for themselves
- but those are usually the ones we hear amazing
recovery stories from.
You need to decide that you are worth it, that life is
worth living, that there is a plan bigger than death
by the slow suicide of an eating disorder. Those may
sound like harsh words, but that's what an eating
disorder is. It's not about control; an eating
disorder epitomizes the loss of control.
Still, with this knowledge, many of us fail at our
attempts at recovery because it seems impossible for
us to reverse the negative voices coming from all
those people who, whether by their actions or words,
have communicated to us over the years that you are
worthless. Well, God has a different view of us.
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of
them will fall to the ground apart from the will of
your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are
all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more
than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31
"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my
mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your
works, and my soul knows it very well." Psalm
139:13-14
It's very hard for us to see our value to God because
all we see is how worthy God is and how unworthy we
are. But God created us; that means you, too. We
judge ourselves by much harsher standards than we do
anyone else; we also treat ourselves much worse than
we would ever dream of treating someone else.
You deserve recovery! Those may sound like empty
words, but they are truth. God loves you so much.
Ask Him; He'll show you.
Sending love and prayers, Brenna Kate
