days. Praise God! So I will be gone for some time.

Lately in my life, I have been "Practicing
Acceptance", and I think everyone should try it!
Living as if today is all I have, I accept myself at
this weight, at this time, in this job, in this body,
with these skills. I no longer am waiting to have the
perfect life, the perfect body, or thinking thoughts
such as, "My life would be great if I could just lose
10 pounds." Those thoughts are unhelpful; they are
actually detrimental to our recovery.
I am acceptable. God created me, and He doesn't mess
up! Though there are definitely areas where I could
use some growth, that doesn't make me as a whole
"unacceptable".
And through this acceptance, slowly but surely, I have
more joy in my life. I don't like my job, but I come
to work and try, praying for better days. I may not
have the perfect body, but it works! I may not want
to live in Boston, but I have a roof over my head.
So I leave you with this, from the apostle Paul's
letter to the Philippians:
"I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have
renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been
concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am
not saying this because I am in need, for I have
learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I
know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is
to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being
content in any and every situation, whether well fed
or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can
do everything through him who gives me strength. "
