This group was founded to connect people in the San Francisco Bay Area who are interested in beginning or are already on the version of the specific carbohydrate diet outlined by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. Dr. McBride's book, Gut and Psychology Syndrome, discusses many applications for this dietary regimen. Many believe that eliminating dissacharides may improve overall health by addressing any imbalances or weaknesses in the terrain of the gut and its microflora. This way of eating requires the omission of grains, starchy vegetables, sugar and processed foods. The emphasis is on animal protein, fruits, vegetables, fermented dairy and baked goods made with nut flour. It is our purpose to offer support to those considering beginning the diet or already implementing it. Many of our members are members of the San Francisco Chapter of the Weston Price Foundation.
