Dear FAP Community:
We are pleased to announce that Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (1991) has been translated into Japanese and will soon be published (it's possible that it will be available in time for ABA but definitely by this summer). This formidable undertaking was accomplished by Associate Professor Hiroto Okouchi from Osaka Kyoiku University and colleagues. We have had the pleasure of corresponding with Dr. Okouchi and Bob has met him in person. His motivation for introducing FAP to Japan springs from a history that may resonate with many on this list. Dr. Okouchi was trained as a cognitive behavior therapist and concomitantly was very enamored with the theory, laboratory findings and philosophy of radical behaviorism. He also has done behavior analytic laboratory research. He saw the potential that radical behaviorism has for providing a more complete account of how psychotherapy can produce significant and marked life changes in clients that go far beyond the alleviation of specific symptoms such as depression or anxiety. We are looking forward to further collaboration between members of our FAP community and our Japanese colleagues.
Best Regards
