Hmm, I thought it might be interesting to get an idea of how peoples weight has
changed over the years as their FSH has progressed and how much of their weight
now they might consider is excess weight ( ie fat ! ) compared with past years
when the FSH had not progressed. An idea of how the ratio of fat to muscle has
changed. ( Taking height into account ) And wether or not resulting inactivity
due to muscle loss is a prime cause of weight gain.

For example, in my late teens, just a few years after diagnosis, I weighed
around 7.5 to 8 stone ( 105 - 112 lbs ), I am 5ft 10'. By age 30 I had
stabilised around just under 7.5 stone ( around 100 - 105 lbs ) and was as thin
as one would expect for that weight. ( Virtually none of that weight was excess
fat and despite years of a very inactive life, there has been no real weight
gain due to fat )

From my mid 30's to now, my weight dropped off further ( seemingly kick started
by experimenting with a fad diet, the Zone diet, so I would not recommend that !
Probably just a coincidence ) to the last recorded weight of around 7 stone or
just under ( 96 lbs ). Recently there has been a minor upsurge though as that
dread middle age curse takes hold and that trouser button is more in danger of
popping ! So pretty much over the last 25-30 years, my weight has dropped from
my youthful 112lbs maximum by around 14 - 20lbs with virtually no weight gain as
a result of markedly increasing inactivity...That loss of 14lbs of muscle sure
makes a difference..!

Steve

I've heard that muscle weighs more than fat, so that would need to be factored in as well! Rosemary ... ...
