Re: [friendsforlifefoundation] Chemotherapy treatments

Hi Monica
I know exactly how you feel. I am 44 had stage 1 grade 3 and 1.5 tumor also. Exactly same as you with no node involvement. I went to the first oncologist , Dr Cintron who told me that I needed to have AC T also. I heard all the side effects that came along with that type of treatment as was very unhappy, I went to 2 more oncologists that both recommended cytoxin and textere. There was a percent different in reoccurrence ,just as you said. I choose the C T- I did loose my hair, and although it was very upsetting, I can tell you that I am 10 months post my last chemo and I just had my first hair cut.. It does grow back quickly and after getting used to the wigs, it isn't that bad. I think you have to weigh your options and go with what you believe will be best for you. I personally was afraid of some of the side effects of  the AC T- and in reality I may not have gotten them. What ever you choose to do, just be confident that you are making the chose that is good for you!-- If you would like to talk to me about it ,please call me anytime at 631 696 7232.  One other thing. a 1.5cm tumor is right on the border, so that why we get different opinions.

Good luck
Nanci

Subject: [friendsforlifefoundation] Chemotherapy treatments

Hi FFL ladies. This is Monica, and I need some advice. I saw my oncologist on monday (at MSKCC Commack). At that visit she insisted i have the AC-T regimen of chemo followed by Tomaxafin. When she discussed the side affects, i was very upset about the hair loss. She called me again on friday after she discussed my case with other oncologists and they determined that i also am a candidate for the CMF regimen. they said there is a 2-3% difference in the two treatments of the cancer matastasizing. They said the decision is up to me. So now i am really confused! If any one would share their experiences or has any advice, i would really appreciate it. i had stage 1 breast cancer, i had a bilateral mastectomy, no lymph node invasion the tumor was 1.5 cm. but was a grade 3 tumor. I am also 33 yrs. of age. Any thoughts, advice,or experiences shared would be helpful. Thank you all Monica.
