Hello everyone,
I think it's worth adding my experience to this thread, as we have tried
almost everything before discovering frequent dose chelation. a total of 7
different regimes.
I will try and keep things brief but need to give some background for those
who have not followed my earlier emails.
Everything here concerns my wife and her Alzheimer's.
This was confirmed by a brain scan in Feb 2007.
1. During 2007 we did almost nothing because we had no notion of what might
be done and it's really difficult until you know where to look to find out,
even on the internet. My daughter had bought a book called 'The Maker's
Diet' for general interest; the author had followed this up with a book
titled 'Patient heal thyself'. This was the first thing we did. It
required probiotics, digestive enzymes, a dried fruit powder, and dried
goats milk protein, and others. I noted that the probiotic made a
difference. This was diet only changes with no suggestion of chelation.
2. In Jan 2008 psychiatrist gives prognosis of 2 yrs to incontinence and not
knowing friends and family and says this to my wife, clearly capable of
understanding it at the time. My daughter is incensed that anyone could be
so callous or so negative and determines that we shall try to do all we
can, and will prove him wrong. Her internet research turns up an
organisation called the Brain Bio Centre in London. They test my wife for
allergies and mineral deficiencies.
The Brain Bio website leads to other things and we discover mercury
poisoning as the probable cause. Brain Bio do blood tests which include
mercury and this is negative. There is no concept of chelation here.
The Alzheimer's continues to worsen.
3. By now we are convinced of the mercury problem, get the relevant books,
Tom Warren and Hal Huggins and know that we need a proper mercury free
dentist to deal with my wife's 11 fillings. The dentist begins the
treatment with 3 months of chlorella tablets; 40 per day. When the teeth
are removed (with all the precautions) he puts her on 2 x 10 drops of
cilantro daily. I don't observe any obvious negative reactions unless I
increase the cilantro dose, when dementia worsens, so I keep the dose to 2 x
10 drops.
The Alzheimer's becomes severe. At this time paranoia and suspicion were at
their worst. For example my wife won't eat her dinner because she thinks I
have killed and cooked the dogs, and she won't eat them. This was a daily
event for months.
We persisted with this regime until the spring of 2009.
4. At some point, I cannot give the time exactly we came across Humet-R and
put my wife on this. We had no negative reaction, but did find that it
controlled my wife's excema. We don't know why; presumably some trace
mineral and we still give her this to control the excema.
5. In the spring of 2009 we visited another dentist with a different regime
backed by a Garry Gordon in America. It was supposed to be tested and
proved, (unlike Klinghardt) and would definitely ensure positive results. It
required a single dose of EDTA daily. My wife had the worst 10 days of
dementia we have ever seen, before or since. At least it was clear NOT to
continue.
6. February 2010. My wife was suffering severe anxiety at the time and also
shaking violently. We needed to do something about this. We continue
searching and find a doctor reputed to be very skilled in Autism and
Alzheimer's. She changes the supplements significantly and puts my wife on
a Patricia Kane diet. We are told we should expect to see good improvement
in 3 to 4 weeks. My wife gets significantly worse and it takes me 3 months
to recover my wife to the situation pre this doctor. Not everything was
bad; the doctor diagnosed reactive hypoglycaemia to be treated with regular
high protein meals. (Same as in AI). The shaking gradually ceased, but
again no chelation.
7. Prior to the doctor in 6, I had seen a book on the internet by an Andrew
Cutler. The price of £57 for a paperback seemed outrageous. (It is I've
bought it for £30 since).
The price put me off and I delayed buying it until the autumn of 2009. I
had tried to read it before seeing the doctor in 6, but I found it tough and
although I had attempted to follow the advice I was way off getting it
right.
I joined this website, and light began to slowly dawn. I was gradually
learning what I had to do, and why, and started Frequent Dose Chelation
sensibly on May 1st 2010, so we have followed it for just over one year.
So all told we have tried 7 different protocols. I hope to have outlined the
weaknesses and failures, if any, of nos' 1-6.
What has no 7 achieved?
One thing seemed clear from the start. We could have confidence in Andrew
Cutler. The book described my wife's symptoms just as if he'd consulted
her, including the hypoglycaemia, and there was a ring of truth in the way
it was written, and in the entries on the website.
The anxiety passed by Christmas of 2010.
Other problems related to cognitive function continued to worsen. Days,
dates, sequences had all disappeared a long time ago. Incontinence was
proving a problem.
If anything our best hope was that things didn't seem to be getting worse.
Then my youngest daughter took her mum out in April for a day, and reported
that apart from talking less she seemed no worse than a year ago.
This week on Monday my wife began to count again; then on Wednesday was
able to say which house number she lived at. These two apparently trivial
events have been beyond her for at least two years.
On Thursday a neighbour of my daughter who has worked in care homes and
knows what to expect said that my wife is looking better than she has for a
year.
The incontinence, supposedly impossible to recover from, has been controlled
but not yet resolved, but it's far from the psychiatrist's prognosis.
To sum up we have 3 years prior to frequent dose chelation in which we
learned a lot, saw little progress and mostly decline, but are still using
some of the dietary recommendations today, and have had one year of ALA/DMSA
in which we have now begun to see encouraging progress.
This is perhaps not enough to bring lots of encouragement to anyone very
concerned, but we haven't finished yet. I hope to continue the progress
story shortly.
Bless you all,
Peter.
