Here is a great collection of posts that deal with plasma cystiene which is part
of the sulfur issue.

Basically sulfur foods have one thiol bond (not sure if bond is the correct word
but it is a thiol thing :)) The chelating agents we take have a two thiol bond.
Mercury loves the thiol bond, but sadly the single thiol bond is not strong
enough to keep the mercury to get it out of the body. (I think of chelating
agents having two hands to grab the mercury and sulfur foods having just one
hand)
The sulfur does grab the mercury but it drops it and moves it around and does
not get it out of the body. So you get this great feeling for a while- mercury
being grab and then a crash when the mercury is let go. It makes you feel
worse.
My biggest symptom from sulfur foods is numbness of leg and arm, also face and
sinus area. Stopped when I removed sulfur.
Do some more reading from the link I gave you. I am sure it will be explained
much better.
My tolerance for sulfur foods is getting better but it really is baby steps for
me. Linda on the other hand was on the sulfur free diet for a year and it is my
understanding she now tolerates it.
Good luck

Is that normal for it not to get better or is that just for a few people? I
don't have too much trouble with my tummy regarding sulfur, my symptoms are odd
- I get numbness in parts of my face, have eye problems (mostly right eye) and
swelling in my jaw (these symptoms go away when I eat a low sulfur/thiol diet).
