Hydrocephalus is a condition which can be treated, and is treated

The first e-mail is regarding the hydrocephalus and has an
attachment or two. The other three e-mails have no attachments and
are full of links and info. regarding this case and the corruption /
collusion in this case. This info. would be great to post far and

information out and to get publicity (especially on the
hydrocephalus aspect, which is caused by trauma) to help save
Terri's life and prove she can get treatment and get better. I have
also found there are treatments for spasticity, in addition to
having physical therapy and rehab. (Of course, Terri would have to
be evaluated regarding the hydrocephalus first and treated for it if
she does have that, before they could even determine if any of these
spasticity treatments such as below would work or be able to be used
at all.)

Spinal Exam: The patient's exam from a spinal perspective is
abnormal.
The degree of limitation of range of motion, and of spasms in her
neck, is consistent
with a neck injury. The abnormal sensory exam, that shows evidence
of her
hypoxic encephalopathic strokes (right side sensory responses are
different from
left) also suggests a spinal cord injury at around the level of C4.
Her physical exam
and videotapes also suggest a spinal cord injury is also present, as
she has much
better control over he face, head, and neck, than over her arms and
legs. This
reminds one of a person with a spinal cord injury who has good
facial control, but
poor use of arms and legs. It is possible that a correctable spinal
abnormality such
as a herniated disk may be found that could be treated and result in
better
neurological functioning. This should be looked for, as may be
treatable. Thus,
there may be an injured disk or spinal cord; the disk injury is more
treatable, the
spinal cord injury, if present without a disk injury, may be more
difficult to treat. A
person with a spinal cord injury and hypoxic encephalopathy will
need different
treatment and rehab recommendations than one who just has a hypoxic
encephalopathic.
Interestingly, I have seen this pattern of mixed brain (cerebral)
and spinal cord
findings in a patient once before, a patient who was asphyxiated.

SCHIAVO: What we can fathom right now is her potassium level was
very low. More than likely, bulima. Her potassium was very, very
low. She had a 2.0, which caused cardiac arrest.
KING: Was she a bulimic?
SCHIAVO: When I was with her, when we were together, Terri would eat
and eat and eat.

KING: ...throwing up her meals? SCHIAVO: Right. Bulimia, as from
I've learned over the years, is a very secretive disease. Terri's
electrolyte balance in her body that day -- she had a 2.0 potassium.
Now potassium feeds your heart, makes your heart pump.
KING: Now, in November of 92 -- I want to get this straight -- you
filed a malpractice suit against the doctors for misdiagnosing her,
right?
SCHIAVO: Right.
KING: The jury awards you $1.2 million in the case. Did you collect
it eventually? Is that all...
SCHIAVO: Eventually, yes.
KING: All right. And what was the malpractice? What did they do
wrong?
SCHIAVO: Terri was -- Terri and I -- like I said, Terri and I were
back and forth to the doctors. We were trying to get pregnant. Terri
wasn't getting her period. We would go month to month, she would go
back to the primary doctor, back to the gynecologist, back to the
primary, back to the -- we did this for a month.
Comes to find out that nobody ever took a history of Terri. And in
the year's time, nobody ever took a vial of blood to check anything
that was going on with her.
KING: You mean they could have prevented this?
SCHIAVO: They could have prevented it.
KING: Something could have been picked up? Potassium -- a blood test
you can find out potassium level.

[Terri was not fat and she did not have a FINE husband then or now.
What kind of "fine husband" would divert attention away from Terri's
head injury, bone fractures, and serious neck injury by lying and
saying she collapsed due to a self-inflicted potassium imbalance
resulting from self-inflicted bulimia?
I wonder who gave this "fine husband" the clout to escape a criminal
investigation? After all, according to Ron Panzer's December 30,
2003 broadcast, "The Conspiracy to Kill Terri Schiavo" the police
routed the report straight to homicide. (This broadcast is available

She was engaged in bulimia so, SO HORRIBLY, that SHE DROPS DEAD OF A
HEART ATTACK. They resuscitate her, BUT SHE'S NEVER THE SAME. She's
been in the hospital for, what is it Stew - 10, 11 years, now? Has
to be, 10 or 11 years, been in the hospital.

did not collapse with serious injuries due to self-inflicted
vomiting. Glenn is promoting the lies Michael Schiavo needs the

I have discovered that Terri, right now, (and most likely in the
very beginning, too, had), has a condition called "hydrocephalus"
which I believe was caused by a blow (or several) blows to the head,
or some other manner in which her head / brain was wounded /
traumatized. This causes hydrocephalus to develop. Hydrocephalus
can also be caused or get worse when electrodes (Brain implants) are
placed in the brain, (Terri's were placed in her brainstem), and
then, follow up exams are not done. This can lead to both infection
and hydrocephalus, as well!
I have a tremendous amount of EXPLOSIVE information / research I
have done that proves all of this. Dr. William Hammesfahr, (a very
successful Neurologist, as well as Nobel Nominee), believes Terri
has hydrocephalus as well, and has stated this. I told Bob
Schindler this last week on the Highway 2 Health broadcast regarding
Terri. I also let him know this could kill Terri if it is not
treated and urged him to contact Dr. Hammesfahr immediately
regarding this! I let him know Dr. Hammesfahr stated this when he
was on Highway 2 Health being interviewed by Ron Panzer on January
7, 2004.
Mr. Schindler was not aware that Dr. Hammesfahr had stated Terri has
hydrocephalus, and no one else on the show was either. I have never
heard or read anyone else (BESIDES DR. HAMMESFAHR) mention they were
aware Terri has hydrocephalus.

These are notes from the January 7, 2004, Highway 2 Health Internet
broadcast featuring Dr. Hammesfahr on Highway2health.net.
These notes were written by Margaret Juneman. Parenthetical

Dr. Hammesfahr is the first physician to treat patients successfully
to restore deficits caused by stroke. His technique is approved by
Medicare, and he was nominated in 1999 for a Nobel prize for this
work which he started in 1994.
Dr. Hammesfahr has great success. Most doctors think a brain injury
that has been there awhile is not treatable. He has had success with
these cases and he is convinced Terri would improve. (Improvement
should not be required for Terri to be allowed to live).
[Lisa's note: Michael Schiavo's behavior indicates that he is also
convinced Terri would improve. He is so sure Terri would improve
with therapy that he not only illegally prevents her from receiving
rehabilitation, but he keeps her under armed guard for fear someone
will give her unauthorized sensory input! The phony persistent
vegetative state ruse is being maintained at all cost. It is no
wonder that Michael, with the blessings and protection of the court,
defies Florida law by denying Terri her legal right to
rehabilitation.]
According to Dr. William Hammesfahr, world renowned neurologist:
Terri's feeding tube is for the convenience of nurses; not because
Terri needs it. Terri does not drool. Liquid is the hardest thing to
swallow, and she swallows 1½ to 2 liters of saliva a day.
Terri is not in a persistent vegetative state or coma. She is a
living, thinking person who makes choices and decisions. This is
terrible. They are trying to kill her. While Dr. Hammesfahr was
examining her, he observed Terri chose to ignore her husband Michael
and the person taking the video.
When Terri heard her mother's voice, she smiled and tracked her.
Terri moved her arms and legs as Dr. Hammesfahr requested her to.
[Lisa's note: Dr. Hammesfahr mentioned that during his ten hour
examination, Terri responded well to verbal requests to move, and
even moved to the point where it caused her pain in order to comply
with a request. He indicated that such movements are definitely not
reflexive.]

vegetative state, by definition, allows no awareness of the world or
ability to interact with the world.

Florida Statute definition of PVS! He, instead used his own made-up

Dr. Hammesfahr said the doctor who complimented Terri for following
the balloon later testified in court that she was in a persistent
vegetative state. Dr. Hammesfahr stated this is medical malpractice
and attempted murder.
[Lisa's note: The doctor who told Terri she did a good job following
commands obeyed The Plan when testifying in court that she is in a
persistent vegetative state.]
Terri did not have a heart attack. There were no cardiac enzymes in
her blood, and no abnormalities in her EKG.
Terri was admitted into the emergency room with a very, very stiff
neck consistent with brand new injury to her neck.
[Lisa's note: Testimony given at a 2002 evidentiary hearing revealed
that Terri was presented at the emergency room with
an "extraordinarily rigid neck" described by one physician
as "consistent with attempted strangulation." See: Court to hear
petition to remove husband as guardian]
Dr. Hammesfahr had seen the combination of injuries Terri suffered
(spinal cord injury, brain injury, and neck injury) one other time.
That was in an attempted strangulation case.
A police report was sent to homicide. There was no follow-up; no
investigation by police. Dr. Hammesfahr said Terri's situation is
unique. He consistently sees wrong things happen to Terri. There is
no law enforcement follow-up now for fear of stepping on toes.
[Lisa's note: There is no law enforcement because the police fear
the people "in high places" who are trying to pull off this very
obviously ILLEGAL murder plot. Everyone closely involved with this
case knows that the plan to kill Terri is a government operation,
and they are either actively helping them with this agenda or
passively helping them by refusing to stand in their way.]
Terri's bone scan revealed Terri was a victim of multiple traumas -
doctors were mandated to report it. There was no history of trauma
prior to her marrying Michael. The fractures had to happen after
marrying him. First lumbar vertebra fracture is common when thrown
against a table.
At first, Terri had physical therapy, rehabilitation, and speech
therapy. Electrodes were planted in her brain stem. A month or two
later, she was more responsive. She got better with rehabilitation.
She spoke appropriately at times, saying such things as, "I am
hungry."
When electrodes are implanted, there needs to be follow up because
the electrodes could be the source of possible infection and
hydrocephalus. If there is no follow up, one is risking further
injury. No follow-up was given.
[Lisa's note: Michael Schiavo is causing Terri further injury by not
permitting her to have necessary medical follow-up after undergoing
experimental surgery! Of course this is illegal too, but he trusts
the governmental euthanasia planners to see to it that he suffers no
repercussions for habitually breaking laws in order to harm Terri.]
Dr. Hammesfahr said he never has seen so many people and
institutions fail someone in so many ways.
[Lisa's note: When an extremely important facet of The Plan is in
process, everyone falls into step...or else. Some, however, fear God
more than certain governmental officials with satanic agendas.]
Terri's 1996 brain scan shows 75% normal brain tissue; not scar
tissue. It is not all fluid. That report is bogus. Her cortex is not
missing; not at all. Some areas are thinned, probably due to
hydrocephalus, with the fluid pushing against her brain. She is
functioning. That is what is important. I have seen people a lot
worse than her, and they are talking. A brain scan taken two years
ago showed improvement.
[Lisa's note: Michael Schiavo and George Felos' remarks on Larry
King Live about Terri's total lack of consciousness are obviously
fallacious. Lying is actually a propaganda technique. It is often
the case that the bigger the lie, the more easily it is believed.]
The EEG (electroencephalogram, which is a test of brain activity)
showed there was no recognizable brain activity. However, three
doctors said she was restless. Muscle activity gives a reading, just
as the brain does, producing artifact. By filtering out the
artifact, the brain activity was also filtered out. The EEG should
have been taken at her bed where she could relax. Judge Greer
refused further testing. Dr. Hammesfahr said no further scan is
needed because Terri is functioning, which obviously shows brain
activity.
Judge Greer would not allow an eye examination, even though she is
legally blind. She can only see objects 12 to 18 inches away.
[Lisa's note: Terri would be more responsive with eyeglasses. Of
course such increased responsiveness would conflict with the
judge's "finding" that Terri is in a persistent vegetative state, so
Terri is not permitted any help with her visual difficulties.]
She is isolated even though her condition demands sensory input.
[Lisa's note: Michael Schiavo's insistence upon Terri being
(illegally) kept in isolation is all for the purpose of making her
appear as "vegetative" as they possibly can. Even with such
outrageous abuse, Terri is still much too responsive for the
euthanasia planners' comfort level.]
Terri's medical records, which are legal documents, were falsified.
Detailed records of Terri's responsiveness were thrown away. Nurses
who were not even on duty wrote fraudulent reports as though they
had been caring for Terri.
[Lisa's note: Truth is an enemy when a "persistent vegetative state"
agenda is being imposed on a person who is not in such a state.]
Why is it that Terri has to prove herself worthy of living? This is
against the law in Florida. She is not in a persistent vegetative
state. She is not terminal, even though she has been (illegally) in
a hospice.
[Lisa's note: It is all about conditioning for the global government
which is being instituted in stages in the United States. Worthy
people (people who further the globalist agenda) live, the unworthy
(people who do not further the globalist agenda) are deemed worthy
of death. People are being conditioned to think of life and death in
these terms.]
(If the judge were to order a swallowing test, strict care would be
needed to ensure Terri were not sedated to the point she could not
swallow. )
[Lisa's note: Excellent point. Terri could be sedated at times it
is "crucial" for her to appear as "vegetative" as possible, such as
during examinations. Perhaps she is sedated on the whim of the
people managing her care. (This could be the main reason Michael
will not permit Terri's parents to see her medical records!) If
Terri is sedated, it is easier for them continue to perpetrate
their "persistent vegetative state" ruse. I think it is amazing that
even with all these ploys against her, Terri's natural beauty still
shines through.]
(This is not about letting her die because she is not dying. This is
about deliberately killing her: Murder.)
[Lisa's note: This is about seeking to murder Terri Schiavo, but it
is more. It is a crucial test to see how much euthanasia
conditioning the American people have already succumbed to. The
euthanasia planners have broken laws, manipulated Terri's care and

Startling details about Terri Schindler Schiavo Revealed!
Excerpt from the Hospice Patients Alliance Newsletter January 8,
2004
Notes on Wednesday nights' interview (1/7/04) with neurologist,
William Hammesfahr, MD.
WILLIAM HAMMESFAHR, MD was interviewed Wednesday night on
Highway2health.net by Ron Panzer, President of Hospice Patients
Alliance. Dr. Hammesfahr is board certified in neurology and pain
management. He has spent many hours directly with Terri Schiavo and
reviewed the medical records directly. Dr. Hammesfahr unequivocally
stated that Terri is absolutely NOT in a persistent vegetative state
and definitely responds to instructions from those around her, that
she makes choices and shows decision-making ability in how she
responds.
Dr. Hammesfahr stated that the medical record was in a state of
shambles when it was given, that it was out of order by date and
that much of the medical record was never given to the Schindlers or
Dr. Hammesfahr! NEVER! Dr. Hammesfahr stated that there are notes in
the medical record by nurses who were NOT working at the time they
stated they were caring for Terri. Also, Dr. Hammesfahr stated that
parts of the medical record were completely missing! Dr. Hammesfahr
explained that Terri's blood sugar level upon admission to the
hospital was about 400 (373). When asked why it would be that high,
since Terri was NOT and is not a diabetic, Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed
that the emergency medical technicians who arrived by ambulance
probably gave Terri D-5-W, a dextrose in water solution. Dr.
Hammesfahr confirmed that EMTs would check a patient's blood glucose
level as part of their routine, when assessing a patient like Terri
who had collapsed. The only reason they would give D-5-W would
likely be that they discovered upon testing Terri, that her blood
sugar was LOW at the time of the collapse. Since Terri was not HYPO-
glycemic and was not diabetic, a POSSIBLE explanation for Terri
having LOW blood sugar at the time of her collapse is that she may
have been injected with insulin.
Noted, of course, was the sworn AFFIDAVIT/testimony of a nurse who
cared for Terri later on in the early 1990s, that Terri was found
shaking, pale and agitated after a visit by Michael Schiavo. In that
nurse's affidavit, the nurse stated that she found a vial of insulin
in Terri's PRIVATE room. Since Terri did not have diabetes, there
would be no reason for a vial of insulin to be in the garbage can in
her room at the nursing home. Dr. Hammesfahr and I agreed that we
had never seen any nurse or physician bring a vial of insulin into a
patient's room when administering insulin. The standard of practice
is to prepare a medication beforehand at the nurse's station, note
what medication is given in the medication administration record,
and then bring the syringe with the insulin in it to the patient,
but NOT the vial.
That a vial of insulin was found in Terri's room is not normal
practice even if Terri were getting insulin, but she was NOT and
never was on insulin! Dr. Hammesfahr explained that, although
Michael Schiavo admits to "shaking Terri up" Terri's injuries and
condition are not explainable due to anyone shaking her head ...
that her clinical condition would have been different if that was
the sole cause of her brain injury. Dr. Hammesfahr stated that the
type of injury and clinical condition Terri had at the time of her
collapse could be explained by a possible strangulation attempt
and/or an insulin injection combined with some form of attack or
trauma.
Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed that no police investigation was done to
look into Terri's condition, even after a bone scan (13 months after
her collapse) revealed multiple TRAUMA and broken bones. Dr.
Hammesfahr stated that the broken bones could NOT be explained by
any form of bone disease, that these were ABSOLUTELY broken bones
and that it must have been done through trauma, injury to her. Dr.
Hammesfahr said that other physicians had also come to the same
conclusion. Dr. Hammesfahr stated that Michael Schiavo kept these
bone scans and other medical records secret for over a DECADE. [They
were only released in 2002!]
Dr. Hammesfahr revealed that not only has Terri NEVER had a heart
attack as widely reported in the major media, she also NEVER even
had a cardiac arrest (her heart never stopped)! [she had arhythmias
of the heart but not a "stopped heart."] He explained that Terri's
injuries were multiple and showed injury TO her. He stated that
Terri had marked injury to her neck which still exists today, and
that he has only seen a similar injury, with spinal cord involvement
as well as brain injury, in one case where a patient had been
strangled. He stated that Terri had an L-1 injury to her spine,
which he stated is common among persons being thrown against a
table, for example. Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed that Terri could talk
and was improving in the very first year when she was getting some
rehabilitation (BEFORE Michael got the money), and that the medical
records confirm, that after Michael got the money, rehabilitation
was completely stopped!

KING: Did they not accuse you of denying Terri any rehab treatment
since 1993?
SCHIAVO: Let's talk about the rehab.
When this happened to Terri, I sued Prudential Insurance for her
rehab benefits. She (AUDIO GAP) Bayfront Medical Center for three
months getting extensive rehab...
KING: In Clearwater, right?
SCHIAVO: In St. Petersburg.
KING: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)
SCHIAVO: She spent three months there. Then, while she was there, we
heard of this doctor in California here that was doing experimental
surgery, implanting stimulators in people's brains in hopes to
stimulate any activity.
Now, we were told with this, too (Ph) when this doctor looked at the
CAT scans, that it was probably not going to work Because there's
just no brain left. But I did it anyway, because I loved Terri. And
I wanted to bring my wife back. I wanted to have my wife back in me.
So I flew her out to California by myself, with a nurse. And I spent
a month there. They inserted the stimulator.
KING: Didn't work?
SCHIAVO: No, it eventually didn't work, no. The protocol for the
stimulator was three months. I kept it on her for a year.
KING: Did she ever speak since 1990? SCHIAVO: Terri never has spoken
a word.
KING: So various types of rehab were conducted?
SCHIAVO: Right. When I got -- when I brought her back from
California, I put her in a rehab called meddaplaques in Bradenton,
Florida. They deal with only head injury, spine injury patients.
They worked estentionally (ph) -- they had physical therapy,
occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy. They
worked extensively with Terri.
KING: Nothing?
SCHIAVO: Nothing. And her mother and father were there. And they
heard this. They knew this.
KING: So accusing you of not giving her any rehab is false?
SCHIAVO: Right.
KING: OK. Let me get a break in and we'll come right back, Michael.

Dr. Hammesfahr revealed that in the early years, Terri had had a
very small device surgically implanted into her brain to provide
therapeutic very low dosages of electrical stimulation to the brain,
which could help Terri, and which DID help Terri when it was first
started. However, after Michael got the money, Michael did not allow
further attempts to help Terri in this way. In addition, Dr.
Hammesfahr explained that the device (or any device) implanted,
would normally be carefully monitored so that no infection would
occur and no harm come to the patient. However, in Terri's case that
was not done and has not been done.

Now back to Ron Panzer's 1-7-04 Interview of Dr. William Hammesfahr,
World Reknowned Neurologist:
Dr. Hammesfahr revealed that Terri has at least 75% functional brain
tissue and that the stories circulating in the media about a head
full of fluid "only" are totally false. He has had patients with
less brain function doing much more than Terri is doing, and Dr.
Hammesfahr believes that Terri is being kept to a lower level of
function by her being denied opportunities to do anything, have any
rehabilitation, and that she her improvement is being sabotaged by
her being kept in isolation, with very few visitors or other input.
Dr. Hammesfahr revealed that Larry King had suggested to Michael
Schiavo that he let Mr. King's news crew go in to film Terri, to
settle once and for all what Terri's condition is, and that Michael
REFUSED!
Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed that Terri has been sedated at various
periods of time and that the sedation of Terri would make Terri less
responsive, especially during an examination by physicians who would
try to see what her condition was. He explained that physician
assessments of Terri made when she was sedated would necessarily NOT
be accurate, that they would UNDER-estimate her level of cognition
and abilities. Dr. Hammesfahr also revealed that Terri suffers from
some hydrocephalus, or fluid buildup in the brain. This is a serious
condition that must be treated to avoid further damage to the brain.
Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed that Michael has NOT allowed Terri to be
treated for her hydrocephalus. [This is in violation of Florida
guardian laws]
Dr. Hammesfahr, whose field is neurology, explained that an EEG
(electro-encephalograph reading) test which did not show much brain
activity was BOGUS! because it was done after Terri had been
transported to a facility for the testing and Terri had been
restless at the time, moving around quite a bit. Muscular movement
during an EEG produces readings on the EEG which must be filtered
out. Dr. Hammesfahr explained that by "filtering out" the EEG
activity Terri had due to the muscular movements, those filtering
that brain activity out had also filtered out Terri's brain
activity. In other words, the EEG done was worthless because it was
not properly done and several doctors have agreed with that.

yesterday, in which a neurologist says that this is a brain- dead

FELOS: What you see in the middle of Terri's skull there, that black
area is spinal fluid. That's where her cerebrum used to be. And
because of the lack of oxygen, it atrophied and decayed away. What
the court-appointed expert said that you can't get any more abnormal
than this. Literally, her cerebrum isn't there anymore.
KING: We want to show this, the father was interviewed on CNN last
year. And you have said some things about him, so we want to get
just the response concerning you and then we'll pick right up. Here
is Terri's father.

to her. To leave her in -- to abandon her like that, for all those

Interview with Dr. Hammesfahr on 1-7-04:
Dr. Hammesfahr pointed out that Terri was also tested with balloons
to see if she would follow the balloon with her eyes and head when
instructed to do so. Dr. Hammesfahr pointed out that Terri did
follow the balloons when instructed, and that she did so, even
though turning her head far enough to the side caused her pain. He
pointed out that reflex actions are usually to avoid pain, but in
Terri's case she turned her head into painful positions in order to
follow the instructions of the physician testing her. Dr. Hammesfahr
confirmed that several experts in neurology agree that Terri could
improve, can improve and that everything that should be done for her
is NOT being done. In fact, Dr. Hammesfahr confirmed that the
isolation and deliberate removal of all stimulation from Terri is
harming Terri, depriving her of the input and stimulation which
would help her reach a higher cognitive level and ability. He stated
that Terri should be getting much exposure to sights, sounds and
other forms of rehabilitation.
Dr. Hammesfahr explained that Dr. Ronald Cranford (who testified for
Michael Schiavo and George Felos' side - the right to die
agenda) ... that Dr. Cranford was NOT a neurologist and was not an
expert in the field. Also, that Dr. Cranford spent less than ONE
hour with Terri totally! Yet the court relied on Dr. Cranford's
testimony, rather than several other neurologists, including Dr.
Hammesfahr. [The court was not gathering information in order to
rule based on fact, it was simply following an agenda.]
Dr. Hammesfahr explained that as a physician and a person, he is
outraged at the mistreatment Terri is receiving and that the denial
of rehabilitation for Terri violates the standards of medical

Life-and-Death Battle in Florida

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Back to the battle over Terri Schiavo's
life. Now that the Florida governor, Jeb Bush, has intervened,
Schiavo has been transferred to a hospital, and a feeding tube will
be reinserted. The battle, though, is far from over.
Schiavo's husband, Michael, has been waging a decade-long legal
fight to have the tube removed. Michael Schiavo's attorney, George
Felos, joins us live this morning from Dunedin, Florida.
And, sir, we appreciate your time. Thanks for coming on and talking
with us. Good morning to you.
GEORGE FELOS, MICHAEL SCHIAVO'S ATTORNEY: You're welcome, Bill.
HEMMER: Michael says he knows what his wife wants. How does he know
that and how does he characterize that?
FELOS: Terri had numerous conversations with her husband, Michael,
and also with other family members. All three of those individuals
testified at the trial, and the court found by clear and convincing
evidence that Terri did not want to keep alive -- stay alive
artificially. She said no tubes for me. I never want to be kept
alive artificially. And the court's order was on the basis of her
spoken declarations.
HEMMER: The family for Terri says all it takes is a bit of rehab and
she will be brought out of the current state in which she's living.
Why not buy that argument?
FELOS: Well, because it's not true. If you look at a brain scan of
Terri, where her cerebral cortex used to be is a black hole filled
with spinal fluid. There's simply no hope of any recovery for Terri.
HEMMER: Nothing at all you don't think.
FELOS: Well, not only me. The courts have found that the
overwhelming evidence is that Terri is in a persistent vegetative
state. And, of course, what we saw yesterday was just such a
horrible tragedy for her. She was literally taken away under threat
of force by the governor from her death bed. And we had the Florida
legislature allow the governor, in essence, to override a person's
individual medical treatment choices. I mean, her liberty suffered
horribly yesterday.
HEMMER: Mr. Felos, a judge now has given you five days to respond to
get a permanent injunction. What's your argument over the next five
days?
FELOS: The argument is that the statute passed by the legislature is
unconstitutional. Each of us, and the Florida Supreme Court, has
said this: Each of us has a right to control our own body. We have a
fundamental right to make our own medical treatment choices, and the
state doesn't have a right to override our wishes. Just because the
governor may believe that removal of feeding tubes is wrong, it
doesn't allow him, nor does it allow the legislature, to say to a
patient, we don't care what you wanted. We're going to force- feed
you against your will, because that's what we believe. That's simply
wrong, and we believe the court will find that law to be
unconstitutional.
HEMMER: There was another argument that the court has handed down
that has taken guardianship away from Michael. How has he reacted to
that decision?
FELOS: Well, it's very unclear what this statute does. Michael is
still guardian in name, but, in essence, the governor's council has
said Jeb Bush has become Terri Schiavo's guardian.
And one of the consequences of his action, of course, you know,
Terri was almost a week into her death process, and the doctors have
said by reinstituting hydration and nutrition now artificially, she
may have already sustained massive organ failure and kidney damage.
And what this may have done is just prolong her death process, and
instead of having a quick painless death, she may have a prolonged
and horrible and physically distressful death.

What Is Hydrocephalus?
Hydrocephalus comes from the Greek: "hydro" means
water, "cephalus" means head. Hydrocephalus is an abnormal
accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within cavities called
ventricles inside the brain. CSF is produced in the ventricles,
circulates through the ventricular system and is absorbed into the
bloodstream. CSF is in constant circulation and has many important
functions. It surrounds the brain and spinal cord and acts as a
protective cushion against injury. CSF contains nutrients and
proteins necessary for the nourishment and normal function of the

Is Michael really just looking for money?
I have no way to know. I know what the Schindlers say to reporters,
but then I know that the Second District's first decision in the
case used these words to describe Michael's care for Terri:
Theresa has been blessed with loving parents and a loving husband.
Many patients in this condition would have been abandoned by friends
and family within the first year. Michael has continued to care for
her and to visit her all these years. He has never divorced her. He
has become a professional respiratory therapist and works in a
nearby hospital. As a guardian, he has always attempted to provide
optimum treatment for his wife. He has been a diligent watch guard
of Theresa's care, never hesitating to annoy the nursing staff in
order to assure that she receives the proper treatment.
Also, though he has said little to the public about this case,
Michael has stated that he believes he is fulfilling Terri's wishes
and that she would not want to live like this.

What about the Schindlers' claims that Terri is conscious and
responds to stimulation?
When the Second District first reviewed the trial court's decision
that Terri would chose not to live under her present circumstances,
the appellate court expressed no reservations when it explained that
Terri was and "will always remain in an unconscious, reflexive
state, totally dependent upon others€" In October, 2002, as a
result of Terri's parents' claims that treatment options offered
promise to restore some of Terri's cognitive functioning, the Second
District ordered the trial court to hold a trial on that issue. The
trial court did so, and in the course of that trial the parties
litigated whether Terri is in a persistent vegetative state.
The trial court heard testimony from five experts: two selected by
Michael, two selected by the Schindlers, and one independent expert
selected by the trial court. The two experts selected by Michael and
the independent expert agreed that Terri was in a persistent
vegetative state and that her actions were limited to mere reflexes.
The two experts chosen by the Schindlers disagreed, but the trial
court found their positions not credible. For instance, the trial
court explained:
At first blush, the video of Terry Schiavo appearing to smile and
look lovingly at her mother seemed to represent cognition. This was
also true for how she followed the Mickey Mouse balloon held by her
father. The court has carefully viewed the videotapes as requested
by counsel and does find that these actions were neither consistent
nor reproducible. For instance, Terry Schiavo appeared to have the
same look on her face when Dr. Cranford rubbed her neck. Dr. Greer
testified she had a smile during his (non-videoed) examination.
Also, Mr. Schindler tried several more times to have her eyes follow
the Mickey Mouse balloon but without success. Also, she clearly does
not consistently respond to her mother. The court finds that based
on the credible evidence, cognitive function would manifest itself
in a constant response to stimuli.
The trial court and the 2nd DCA both lied when they used a false
(AND ILLEGAL) definition of PVS to determine TERRI WAS PVS, SO THEY
COULD TRY TO MURDER HER, BY REMOVING HER FEEDING TUBE AND ILLEGALLY
WITHHOLDING ORAL FOOD AND WATER. THIS IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL!

(12) "Persistent vegetative state" means a permanent and
irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there is:
(a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of any

Terri's condition. The two experts selected by the Schindlers each
proposed a potential therapy method, but the trial court rejected
both of them based on "the total absence of supporting case studies
or medical literature."

On April 26, 2001 Attorney Anderson and Eckert presented the
testimony of Cyndi Brasher to Judge Greer showing that Schiavo had
perjured himself at Terri's 2000 trial. Judge Greer REFUSED TO HEAR
THE NEW EVIDENCE because it was presented after a 1 year time
constraint.
THE EVIDENCE PRESENTED was that Michael's prior girlfriend came
forward with testimony that Michael had told her that Terri had
never told him what her wishes were in a situation such as this. She
had not come forward previously was that she was AFRAID OF MICHAEL.
Terri's brother, Bobby found this easy to believe due to the fact
that he had come to the conclusion that Michael was a VIOLENT and
CONTROLLING person after an altercation that he had previously been
involved in with Michael, where he had been grabbed by the NECK and
thrown to the ground, and was ready to strike him with a closed fist
whent he rest of the family intervened to stop him.
On April 27, 2001 this same evidence was presented by attorney's
Anderson and Eckert that showed that Michael Shiavo had perjured
himself in Terri's 2000 Trial to Civil Court Judge Frank Quesada.
Based on the evidence, Judge Quesada ordered her feeding tube (which
had been ordered removed 60 hours previously) restored.
On October 14, 2002, Dr Hammesfahr testified in court that in all of

Affirming those decisions, the Second District explained that it,
too, reviewed the videotapes of Terri in their entirety as well as
Terri's brain scans. The appellate court explained that it not only
affirmed the decision but that, were it to review the evidence and

According to Dr. William Hammesfahr, world renowned neurologist:
Terri's feeding tube is for the convenience of nurses; not because
Terri needs it. Terri does not drool. Liquid is the hardest thing to
swallow, and she swallows 1½ to 2 liters of saliva a day.
Terri is not in a persistent vegetative state or coma. She is a
living, thinking person who makes choices and decisions. This is
terrible. They are trying to kill her. While Dr. Hammesfahr was
examining her, he observed Terri chose to ignore her husband Michael
and the person taking the video.
When Terri heard her mother's voice, she smiled and tracked her.
Terri moved her arms and legs as Dr. Hammesfahr requested her to.
[Lisa's note: Dr. Hammesfahr mentioned that during his ten hour
examination, Terri responded well to verbal requests to move, and
even moved to the point where it caused her pain in order to comply
with a request. He indicated that such movements are definitely not
reflexive.]

vegetative state, by definition, allows no awareness of the world or
ability to interact with the world.
[Lisa's note: Judge Greer LIED and "found" Terri in a "persistent
vegetative state" in clear violation of the Florida statue, which
defines the term, "persistent vegetative state":
"Persistent vegetative state" means a permanent and irreversible
condition of unconsciousness in which there is:
(a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of any
kind.
(b) An inability to communicate or interact purposefully with the
environment.

Dr. Hammesfahr said the doctor who complimented Terri for following
the balloon later testified in court that she was in a persistent
vegetative state. Dr. Hammesfahr stated this is medical malpractice
and attempted murder.

Were the Schindlers' doctors given an opportunity to examine Terri?
Yes. As the Second District explained:
Through the assistance of Mrs. Schiavo's treating physician, Dr.
Victor Gambone, the physicians obtained current medical information
about Theresa Schiavo including high-quality brain scans. Each
physician reviewed her medical records and personally conducted a
neurological examination of Mrs. Schiavo. Lengthy videotapes of some
of the medical examinations were created and introduced into
evidence. Thus, the quality of the evidence presented to the
guardianship court was very high, and each side had ample
opportunity to present detailed medical evidence, all of which was
subjected to thorough cross-examination. It is likely that no
guardianship court has ever received as much high-quality medical
evidence in such a proceeding.
What about the video clips that show Terri reacting to her mother?
The court opinions indicate that similar videos were viewed in their
entirety by the trial court, which found that Terri's actions were
no more than reflexive and could not be reproduced with any
consistency. The Second District affirmed that decision.
Terri is given food and water through tubes. Is disconnecting a
feeding tube the same as ending life support?
Yes, under Florida law, which governs the ability of each person to
determine, or to appoint someone to determine, whether each of us
should receive what the Legislature terms "life-prolonging medical
procedures." The Legislature has explained:
The Legislature recognizes that for some the administration of
life-prolonging medical procedures may result in only a precarious
and burdensome existence. In order to ensure that the rights and
intentions of a person may be respected even after he or she is no
longer able to participate actively in decisions concerning himself
or herself, and to encourage communication among such patient, his
or her family, and his or her physician, the Legislature declares
that the laws of this state recognize the right of a competent adult
to make an advance directive instructing his or her physician to
provide, withhold, or withdraw life-prolonging procedures, or to
designate another to make the treatment decision for him or her in
the event that such person should become incapacitated and unable to
personally direct his or her medical care.
§ 765.102(3), Florida Statutes.
The Legislature has also defined what is a "life-prolonging
procedure":
"Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical procedure,
treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided
sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores, or supplants a
spontaneous vital function. The term does not include the
administration of medication or performance of medical procedure,
when such medication or procedure is deemed necessary to provide
comfort care or to alleviate pain.
§ 765.101(10), Florida Statutes (italics added by me).
NOTE FROM MELISSA: The EEG done on Terri was done incorrectly,
erasing her brainwaves. She was moving around at the time of the
test, which caused artifact or "noise". They later removed this
artifact, and also erased evidence of Terri's brainwaves at the same
time! I bet every test or most tests done on Terri were done wrong
(probaby on purpose!) in order to slant the results in this fashion
and to get their pre-determined results! Meanwhile, they were, and
still are, covering up the fact that Terri is conscious, responding,
and certainly not PVS!

Why did Terri€™s husband get to make the decision about whether =
she
should live or die?
Michael Schiavo did not make the decision to discontinue life-
prolonging measures for Terri.
As Terri's husband, Michael has been her guardian and her surrogate
decision-maker. By 1998, though -- eight years after the trauma that
produced Terri's situation -- Michael and Terri's parents disagreed
over the proper course for her.
Rather than make the decision himself, Michael followed a procedure
permitted by Florida courts by which a surrogate can petition a
court to act as a ward's surrogate and determine what the ward would
decide to do. Michael took the position that, based on statements
Terri made to him and others, Terri would not wish to continue life-
prolonging measures. The Schindlers took the position that Terri
would continue life-prolonging measures. Under this procedure, the
trial court becomes the surrogate decision-maker, and that is what
happened in this case.
The trial court in this case held a trial on the dispute. Both sides
were given opportunities to present their views and the evidence
supporting those views. Afterwards, the trial court determined that,
even applying the "clear and convincing evidence" standard -- the
highest burden of proof used in civil cases -- the evidence showed
that Terri would not wish to continue life-prolonging measures.

Why didn€™t the court appoint a guardian other than Terri€=

husband to speak for her?
The trial judge could have utilized a guardian ad litem as a neutral
party to speak for Terri, but in the end the trial judge did not do
so. The Second District affirmed this decision and explained its
rationale in this way:
Under these circumstances, the two parties, as adversaries,
present their evidence to the trial court. The trial court
determines whether the evidence is sufficient to allow it to make
the decision for the ward to discontinue life support. In this
context, the trial court essentially serves as the ward's guardian.
Although we do not rule out the occasional need for a guardian in
this type of proceeding, a guardian ad litem would tend to duplicate
the function of the judge, would add little of value to this
process, and might cause the process to be influenced by hearsay or
matters outside the record. Accordingly, we affirm the trial court's
discretionary decision in this case to proceed without a guardian ad
litem.
Why didn€™t Terri€™s parents get a chance to prove th=

They did. As explained above, the trial judge held a trial on this
issue and determined that the evidence clearly and convincingly
showed that Terri would not want to continue life-prolonging
measures in her current state.

Can't the parents appeal the trial judge's decision, and shouldn't
conflicting evidence be judged in favor of continuing life?
The Schindlers did appeal, and the Second District determined that
while a surrogate decision-maker should err on the side of life, the
trial judge had sufficiently clear and convincing evidence to
determine that Terri would not wish to continue the life-prolonging
measures she needs to live. The appellate court explained:
[T]he Schindlers argue that the testimony, which was conflicting,
was insufficient to support the trial court's decision by clear and
convincing evidence. We have reviewed that testimony and conclude
that the trial court had sufficient evidence to make this decision.
The clear and convincing standard of proof, while very high, permits
a decision in the face of inconsistent or conflicting evidence. See
In re Guardianship of Browning, 543 So. 2d at 273.
In Browning, we stated:
In making this difficult decision, a surrogate decisionmaker
should err on the side of life€ In cases of doubt, we must assume
that a patient would choose to defend life in exercising his or her
right of privacy.
In re Guardianship of Browning, 543 So.2d at 273. We reconfirm
today that a court's default position must favor life.
The testimony in this case establishes that Theresa was very young
and very healthy when this tragedy struck. Like many young people
without children, she had not prepared a will, much less a living
will. She had been raised in the Catholic faith, but did not
regularly attend mass or have a religious advisor who could assist
the court in weighing her religious attitudes about life-support
methods. Her statements to her friends and family about the dying
process were few and they were oral. Nevertheless, those statements,
along with other evidence about Theresa, gave the trial court a
sufficient basis to make this decision for her.
In the final analysis, the difficult question that faced the trial
court was whether Theresa Marie Schindler Schiavo, not after a few
weeks in a coma, but after ten years in a persistent vegetative
state that has robbed her of most of her cerebrum and all but the
most instinctive of neurological functions, with no hope of a
medical cure but with sufficient money and strength of body to live
indefinitely, would choose to continue the constant nursing care and
the supporting tubes in hopes that a miracle would somehow recreate
her missing brain tissue, or whether she would wish to permit a
natural death process to take its course and for her family members
and loved ones to be free to continue their lives. After due
consideration, we conclude that the trial judge had clear and
convincing evidence to answer this question as he did.

Was Michael the only person who testified about Terri's supposed
statements on her views about living on life support?
No, others did as well, and when making the decision in the case,
the trial judge took into account all of that testimony and
additional evidence. As the Second District explained:
We note that the guardianship court's original order expressly
relied upon and found credible the testimony of witnesses other than
Mr. Schiavo or the Schindlers. We recognize that Mrs. Schiavo's
earlier oral statements were important evidence when deciding
whether she would choose in February 2000 to withdraw life-
prolonging procedures. See § 765.401(3), Fla. Stat. (2000); In re
Guardianship of Browning, 568 So. 2d 4, 16. Nevertheless, the trial
judge, acting as her proxy, also properly considered evidence of
Mrs. Schiavo's values, personality, and her own decision-making

Did the trial judge reach the right decision?
The "right" decision would be whatever decision Terri would make. I
did not attend the trial, and I have not even reviewed the trial
record. I do not pretend to know what the "right" decision would be.

Why has this case become such a controversy?
This case has become such a controversy because of Terri's parents'
insistence that their daughter would not wish to die under these
circumstances and their claim that Terri is conscious and responsive
to stimulation.
The case has also become controversial because, for years, Terri's
parents have publicly questioned Michael's motives for wanting to
discontinue Terri's life support. Specifically, they have charged
that Michael remains Terri's husband and is working to end her life
so he can inherit whatever money remains from a $1 million 1993
medical malpractice settlement Michael recovered on behalf of
himself and Terri. Presumably, if Michael divorced Terri, then he
would not have access to Terri's portion of the money, and upon her
death her parents would inherit it. News reports also indicate that
Michael is engaged to another woman.

as many days, threatening legal action against Bob and Mary

Citing a July 2002 court order, attorney Deborah Bushnell,
representing Michael Schiavo, states that videos of Terri may not be
disseminated by her family and promises that she will pursue a
contempt of court action against the family if videos are not
immediately removed. It is important to note that these videos of
Terri were never sealed by the court and, therefore, public record.
Ms. Bushnell also takes issue that the family web site
(www.terrisfight.org) links to Life Legal Defense Foundation€™s =
web
site (www.lldf.org), a non-profit organization that has conducted
fund-raising to offset the legal challenges Terri€™s family has =
undertaken in the hopes of protecting her life.
Ms. Bushnell€™s communications, however, did not address the
possible exploitation of Terri Schiavo by her co-counsel, George
Felos of Dunedin, Florida €“ who represents Michael Schiavo in b=

guardianship matters and in Schiavo v Bush.
Attorney George Felos is now listed as available talent with Eagles
Talent Connection, Inc., a Speakers and Entertainers Bureau of South
Orange, New Jersey. In their online booking site, Eagles Talent
offers the speaking services of Mr. Felos for fees ranging from
$10,000 to $15,000. Among the topics listed as presented material,

Mr. Felos has already collected more than $500,000 of funds that
were awarded to Terri Schiavo as a means to provide health care and
rehabilitation services. Instead, this money was used to pay Mr.
Felos€™s legal fees in the ongoing case to end her life.
Florida Statute 825.103, in part, defines exploitation of elderly
and disabled persons thusly: €œ(a) Knowingly, by deception or
intimidation, obtaining or using, or endeavoring to obtain or use,
an elderly person's or disabled adult's funds, assets, or property
with the intent to temporarily or permanently deprive the elderly
person or disabled adult of the use, benefit, or possession of the
funds, assets, or property, or to benefit someone other than the
elderly person or disabled adult, by a person who: 1. Stands in a
position of trust and confidence with the elderly person or disabled
adult; or 2. Has a business relationship with the elderly person or
disabled adult€ The statute goes on to define the degree of felony
pursuant to the amount of the funds in question. Donations received
by the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation and Life Legal Defense
Foundation are directed solely to the efforts to protect Terri from
a forced dehydration and starvation death. Mr. Felos, on! the other
hand, appears to be prospering at Terri€™s expense.

Hydrocephalus is a condition which can be treated, and is treated
every day. I have sent this info. out to 4 attorneys / law firms
who came forward Oct. 15, and Oct. 16, 2004, when Terri's feeding
tube was removed for the second time. These attorneys all
researched the case and the fact of whether Gov. Bush had the power
to intervene and stop Terri from being murdered. They all
determined he already had, at that time, the power as Governor to
stop everything, have her tube reinserted, and to order a full scale
investigation into the abuses/corruption, etc. they had discovered
in this case.
I plan to e-mail 2 more of these attorneys/law firms soon, who were
also involved in Telling Gov. Bush this. (I just found their e-mail
addresses, with some help from Gordon). I actually sent the 4
attorneys 4 e-mails, all separate, (16 e-mails have gone out so
far).
I will send this information out to you (forward or my e-mails
proving all of this).
The first e-mail is regarding the hydrocephalus and has an
attachment or two. The other three e-mails have no attachments and
are full of links and info. regarding this case and the corruption /
collusion in this case. This info. would be great to post far and
wide, and to put on your sites as well. I would love to get this
information out and to get publicity (especially on the
hydrocephalus aspect, which is caused by trauma) to help save
Terri's life and prove she can get treatment and get better. I have
also found there are treatments for spasticity, in addition to
having physical therapy and rehab. (Of course, Terri would have to
be evaluated regarding the hydrocephalus first and treated for it if
she does have that, before they could even determine if any of these
spasticity treatments such as below would work or be able to be used

optimum capacity. Spasticity can occur as a result of brain Injury.
Spasticity is a syndrome associated with an increase in the
involuntary reflex activity of muscles to stretch. The consequences
of spasticity are numerous and may include stiffness, spasms,
contractures as well as pain. Spasticity can negatively impact on
quality of life factors such as mobility and independence, hygiene,
self-care and self-esteem, mood, sleep, and sexual function. In
general, goals of spasticity treatment are relief of subjective
discomfort, facilitation of patient care, improvement of functional
capacity and prevention of long-term consequences of excessive and
unevenly distributed muscle tone. Unfortunately, the treatment of
moderate to severe spasticity by medication, physical therapy and
local injections often provide less than satisfying or gratifying
results.

The case regarding Terri Schiavo I feel is not getting the attention
that it deserves, and very important evidence has not been heard in

On April 26, 2001 Attorney Anderson and Eckert presented the
testimony of Cyndi Brasher to Judge Greer showing that Schiavo had
perjured himself at Terri's 2000 trial. Judge Greer REFUSED TO HEAR
THE NEW EVIDENCE because it was presented after a 1 year time
constraint.
THE EVIDENCE PRESENTED was that Michael's prior girlfriend came
forward with testimony that Michael had told her that Terri had
never told him what her wishes were in a situation such as this. She
had not come forward previously was that she was AFRAID OF MICHAEL.
Terri's brother, Bobby found this easy to believe due to the fact
that he had come to the conclusion that Michael was a VIOLENT and
CONTROLLING person after an altercation that he had previously been
involved in with Michael, where he had been grabbed by the NECK and
thrown to the ground, and was ready to strike him with a closed fist
whent he rest of the family intervened to stop him.
On April 27, 2001 this same evidence was presented by attorney's
Anderson and Eckert that showed that Michael Shiavo had perjured
himself in Terri's 2000 Trial to Civil Court Judge Frank Quesada.
Based on the evidence, Judge Quesada ordered her feeding tube (which
had been ordered removed 60 hours previously) restored.
On October 14, 2002, Dr Hammesfahr testified in court that in all of
his previous experiences he has only encountered one patien who had
suffered a neck spinal injury similar to the one that Terri
suffered. Dr. Hammesfahr emphatically stated that it was his expert
opinion that the injury was caused by strangulation.
On October 15, 2002, Dr. Bambikidas testified that when Terri was
admitted to the hospital after her collapse" that it appeard to have
been caused by a spinal neck injury, and further testified that her
condition was not brought on by a heart attack as alleged, based on
the fact that she had not suffered a heart attack.

(CNSNews.com) - The family of Terri Schindler Schiavo has disclosed
a videotape made in violation of a court order they say disproves
her husband's contention that she is in a "persistent vegetative
state," as is required by Florida law to end her life.
Michael Schiavo, husband of the disabled woman whose feeding tube is
to be removed Wednesday, threatened through an attorney Tuesday to
deny Terri's parents access to their daughter as a result of the
tape's release.
Robert Schindler admits that he knowingly violated a court order
issued by Pinellas-Pasco County, Fla., Circuit Judge George Greer
barring Terri's family from providing her with any form of
rehabilitative therapy or from taking still photographs and audio or
video recordings of his daughter.
"I went in with the camera because I expected Terri to be dying very
shortly, and I wanted to bring the truth out," Schindler explained
when asked about the possibility of going to jail for contempt of
court. "What happens, happens. But if there's anything regarding
Terri that could help her, that is not going to injure anyone or do
anyone harm, then I'm [supportive of it]."
The family distributed copies of the tape to the media in hopes that
Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush will see it and order the state Department of
Children and Family Services to intervene on Terri's behalf. Alia
Faraj, Gov. Bush's press secretary, said Monday that the matter
is "in the courts' hands right now."
Video shows interaction between mother and daughter
The nearly five-minute-long video includes scenes of Terri together
with her mother, Mary Schindler, and shows Terri apparently
interacting with her mother and trying to speak. In one segment, the
mother enters Terri's hospice room and speaks her daughter's name,
at which point Terri's eyes open wider, and she attempts to sit
upright in her hospital bed.
Pamela Hennessy, volunteer media coordinator for the Terri Schindler
Schiavo Foundation, described Terri as being able to sit up in her
chair unassisted and "extremely alert, extremely responsive.
"Her mother comes in and starts nuzzling her and kissing her on her
cheek, and Terri starts laughing out loud. Her mother says to
her, 'Can you say Mom?' And Terri replies, much like a small child
or a toddler would, with some vocalizations, and she laughs again,"
Hennessy said.
In the videotape, dated August 11, 2001, Terri is seen smiling when
kissed on the cheek by her mother. When the mother begins to more
playfully kiss her daughter's face, Terri can be seen and heard
laughing in response.
In another portion of the tape, the woman's mother asks her if she
can say "Mom," and Terri can be heard trying to speak, and she can
be seen trying to form words with her mouth. At one point, Terri
gives the appearance of frustration, furrowing her brow and losing
her smile.
Mrs. Schindler said Tuesday that the attempts to communicate had a
visible effect on her daughter.
"She gets frustrated, you can hear it in her voice, when she can't
communicate like I'm sure she wants to, it's difficult for her,"
said Mrs. Schindler. "But that's her best effort to say, 'I'm in
here, and I'm trying to talk to you.'"
Family hopes Gov. Bush will see tape, intervene
The Schindler videotape was made at some risk, which the family
acknowledges, with the hope that seeing Terri in what appears to be
a non-vegetative state will prompt Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to become
involved in the matter.
"The governor, more than any other state official, has a
responsibility to take care that the laws are faithfully executed
and to give a voice to the citizens of the state," Bush press
secretary Alia Faraj said before the release of the clandestine
videotape.
As it stands, the nutrition and hydration tube keeping the woman
alive is scheduled to be removed at 2:00 p.m. EDT Oct. 15, which
will result in her death by dehydration and/or starvation.
The release of the tape has already resulted in a threat from the
legal team representing Terri's husband.
One of Michael Schiavo's attorneys, Deborah Bushnell, faxed the
Schindlers' attorney a letter Tuesday morning, threatening to deny
access to Terri if the video was released.
"As you know, this is in direct violation of a court order in this
case," Bushnell wrote. "If your clients choose to release the tape,
they will not be allowed to visit Terri unless [Schiavo] or his
representative is present.
"In addition, [Schiavo] may seek other remedies from the court, as
appropriate," Bushnell concluded.
Bushnell did not respond to an interview request from CNSNews.com.
Death from dehydration, starvation could take up to two weeks
Terri Schindler Schiavo suffered a brain injury due to oxygen
depravation in 1990 under questionable circumstances. Her husband
and his doctors contend that Terri's injury is the result of a heart
attack brought on by a potassium imbalance.
Terri's parents contend that the oxygen depravation was the result
of an alleged assault and strangulation attempt by Schiavo. They
