Subject: Ron Panzer's Report on Autopsy of Terri Schiavo

The following is an excerpt from Ron Panzer's
Hospice Patients Alliance Newsletter June 15, 2005
sent out periodically reporting about news affecting
hospice and end-of-life care.

Report on Autopsy of Terri Schiavo Released Today

Note from Ron Panzer:

The Report on the autopsy on Terri Schiavo was
released today. It confirmed that there was NO
evidence Terri Schiavo ever had an eating disorder.

It confirmed that she NEVER had a heart attack.

It confirmed that the potassium levels she had
at the time of her "collapse" could be explained
by other causes, especially the fluid given and
other interventions at the time of her rescue by
emergency medical technicians.

It removed the explanation held onto by the major
media for Terri's collapse, and raises the question:
WHY did Terri collapse in the first place, what caused
her to have that brain injury? There is NO official explanation as to why she
collapsed, and yet that is
the huge question just sitting there, waiting for
them to ask and answer.

The autopsy confirmed she had major brain injury
and also had damage to the centers that control
eyesight. The question arises: if Terri had such
poor eyesight, why would a neurologist use visual
tests to determine her mental capacity?(such as
tracking a balloon, or following him as he walked
this way or that?)

The autopsy has done more to bolster the position
of Terri's real family, her sister, brother and
parents, than anything else.

Yet, the major media's "take" on the autopsy? They
simply state that the autopsy confirmed she had
major irreversible brain injury (which was never in
question) and use that fact to imply that the
killing of Terri Schiavo was justified because
of her brain injury.

The media have NOT admitted that virtually every
story they put out about Terri contained false
ideas or theories about her, such as she never
had the heart attack, never had an eating disorder,
never had a potassium level low enough to explain her collapse. The media has
NO interest in investigating
why she collapsed, and NO interest in asking if it's
"OK" to kill people simply because they are disabled.
Yet, that is exactly what happened here. -- Ron Panzer]
