They have different panels that cost different amounts. My daughter had what was called comprenhensive wellness 5. This consist of testing 100 foods, 20 food additives/colorings, 20 molds, and 10 environmental chemicals. The cost on the sheet from alcat was $525.00 but going through the naturopath we got a 20% discount so it cost us $446.25. We set up a payment plan through ALCAT which was 1/3 day of blood test and 1/3 in a month and in 2 months.
If you go to the ALCAT website they have where you can ck. out the test and the cost. I think it is www.alcat.com but let me know if you can't find it, its in my favorites.
For my daughter the foods she tested the most severe to are the ones she eats all the time like chicken, apples, etc. and glutin, dairy, eggs..too much to mention.
Let me know if you have any other questions although we havnt started it to the full extent..there were too many things to take away and being a teen it is kind of hard.
good luck to you, I hope you find the help. jean

As far as I know, all of your medical files should be available to you. Whenever I get tests, I ask the testers to send a report to me and to my doctor. That way I get all the details of the test, as much as the doctor gets, and I can call the doctor to explain that which needs to be explained. Being in the dark in a matters like this is terrible. Hope the light shines soon.

That was interesting news you just provided. I did not realize
that if allergies arise the body does not absorb the nutrients of that food. I
can see why, while we wait for the results to come back why digestive enzymes
are making such a huge difference in the children.

Hi Jean,
When some one develop an allergies means the tummy does not absorb the nutriHents. In the mean time, until ALCAT send you
the result stay away from wheat, oat, and Rye. Nuts and night shade
vegetables. Have them eat more vegetables.
Try to cook with Gluten Free ingredients and definitely away from
concentrated sugar. The Dr. will tell you that either you grow out of this
allergies mess as you become an adult, or never develop the immune system to
fight the potential allergens.

I suggest you find a Naturopath in your area. They can test for everything and
offer alternatives. I also just read that Folic Acid helps with asthma. I'm
putting my 15 yo daughter on it.

Sorry, I have technical difficulties with some of my yahoo groups. What I said was:
Two things – first of all, isnt this list (which is really inactive, btw) run by the ALCAT test people? I strongly recommend the ALCAT test which is a great test for sensitivities, but you usually will have to pay for it yourself. Secondly, most people say that the best test is the food challenge. Remove any foods you think might be a problem for two weeks, then add one back (a lot of it) and look for reactions. Keep a log (write it all down).
Finally, this list is really not active and there are other allergy lists on yahoo group where you can get a lot more support. Look around at groups.yahoo.com, maybe search for children food allergies. Good luck figuring out whats bothering your daughter!

Hi everyone,
Very glad I found this group. I have a 6yr old daughter with a peanut
allergy and asthma. Her asthma is not being controlled by the inhalers and we
really think she is allergic to other things. We have gone through skin testing
and done a RAST test for 3 things(peanuts, milk, and wheat).....the milk and wheat
came back negative. The milk one really, really surprised me because everytime
she has ice cream, milk, cottage cheese, or yogurt she has an asthma attach and
her eczema comes back. Needless to say we have removed all dairy from her diet.
We have gone to her pediatrician and asked for IGG, IGA, and IGM testing and
she kind of laughed at us. I am really in need of help or advice. We know our
daughter is allergic or has other sensitivities, we just are not sure exactely
what route to take. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, kristen

I got my alcat test back about two weeks ago now, and I have been following the 4 day rotation diet. I have a question that I have asked in an email to the Africa Alcat by mistake, I am living in the USA. They told me that the mild, yellow foods should be avoided for 3 months along with the foods I haven't been tested for. I have read though, that you might be able to bring it back in only 3 or 4 weeks??? What's right? I have quite a few red and orange foods that I have to avoid. Also, when you do start bringing in the foods that you didn't test for, how do you know what day to put it in (family)? Any day you want? All the foods that I did test for, red, orange, and yellow, all have a 1 to 4 number by it so I know what day to put it in. I'm having a little trouble with planning my meals, for example, on one day, I can have all the makings of a salad (except cucumber, which is on a different day)and since I'm following a yeast free diet, and can't have vinegar, I have a little olive oil on it, and I usually put a little lemon juice on it also, but lemon is on a different day. How do you even think about doing a recipe??? You will never get all the ingred. in the same day to make anything? I guess that's why you're suppose to eat simple. I'm eating a lot more meat then I use to, because there isn't much other protein to choose, or what else would make a meal.... Thanks for listening to me ramble on... I hope some of you can help me and answer some of my questions.

Lee,
I think you were reading my mind. I wanted to post the news report I found
after speaking with Dr. Ford. Dr. Ford shown in the Houston news program is the
doctor who I work with.

I hope everyone else is having success with ALCAT...I'm due for a retest.
