I am looking for help to convince my doctor to request the ALCAT test. I
have been suffering from sinus problems my entire life. I am currently
suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and I weigh
260 pounds -- I'm 5'5" tall. I have tried nasal sprays, allergy pills,
and one doctor thought my acid reflux might be the cause of my sinus
problems. Nothing so far as helped. I believed the ALCAT would be
beneficial.
I am currently doing research on the web, and can't find exactly what I
am looking for. I'm hoping that you can help. I am looking for the
following:
testimonials
information that explains the difference between the ALCAT and the
traditional prick test
information on the accuracy/benefit of the ALCAT -- I realize that there
are arguments against the test, so a source that acknowledges the
difference and helps make a case for the test would be helpful
I have been to the ALCAT site and found some useful information, but I
would expect them to 'toot their own horn'. I am hoping to find an
independent source that also supports the site.
My thought is that even if the ALCAT doesn't help, that it cannot hurt.
I can think of two times in my life when I didn't have trouble with
sinus drainage -- once during an elimination diet and the second during
an Atkins diet. I have tried Atkins again, but I get terribly sick --
I'm thinking it is low blood sugar.
Currently I work two jobs and I'm trying to finish my MBA and so an
elimination diet is very difficult. An ALCAT test would hopefully help
me to focus on the problem areas -- sort of give me a target, rather
than shooting in the dark trying to figure out which foods are
problematic.
I'm sorry for the length of the message, and I think you for reading
this far. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
