Hi Cara,
You asked if I am cancer free. The short answer is always an upbeat
peppy, YES. My lab results and self-checks of my chest wall would
indicate there is nothing major going on.
The long answer is all people have "abnormal" cells in their body
every day. It is the job of our immune system to detect what is
"self" and what is "unself". My goal is to do all I can to help my
body do a better job of that than it has done in the past.
Unfortunately, the chemo I participated in has quite likely made me
susceptible to leukemia in the years to come.
I am motivated to follow my ALCAT food list to the best of my ability,
but there is a learning curve and I don't have local support regarding
the ALCAT list from a health professional nor my family. Last year we
spent so much $$ on my medical stuff it is hard for me to feel OK
about spending more for professional input.
Currently, I am having a hard time coordinating my family's meals and
my ALCAT meals. I also realized that though I have been good about
eating my "green list" foods, I have totally abandoned the idea of the
rotation diet. I now want to work to incorporate the rotation diet
into my eating plan.
Here are the areas that seem to be my biggest challenges;
SHOPPING (I want to eat as much fresh and organic as possible. It
seems I would need to be at the market each day or at least every
other day. Is that true for you all?)
ORGANIZATION OF THE KITCHEN (My refrigerator, freezer, shelves, and
counters don't seem to have enough space to have my family's food and
my 4 day rotation foods easily accessible. What is working for you all?)
CRAVINGS (Even when I am highly motivated to be consistent...I am
still preparing foods 3 times a day for my family that are NOT on my
ALCAT list. I find it difficult not to taste in order to correct the
seasonings, let alone devour the "unhealthy for me" food. What are
some suggestions that are helping you all?)
Sorry for the long post.
