Hi,
I just joined this list.. I found it on the Alcat.com site..
I'm an IBS sufferer and still can't quite control it.. I've had problems
since I was 2. When I was younger it was more managable once I figured out I
was lactose intollerant (early teens). I was in denial a lot until I
graduated high school and started working. Then it started to become a
bigger issue so I saw a GI Doc for the first time. He suggested Metamucil
and diet restrictions and adding fiber. I dropped all fried foods and red
meat from my diet and dropped weight too. I added fiber where I could, but
Metamucil gave me awful gas so I stopped that too.. I basically dealt with
stomach aches for years until a couple of years ago it was getting really
out of control. Every night after dinner I was sick, it was stopping me from
getting my kids from school, anytime I wanted to go someplace or do anything
I had to cancel last minute. I saw a GI again and started up with Citrucel
/Metamucil. I've tried several medications that seem to work a little, but
not enough. The latest is Dicyclomine before meals and that helps the meal
part, but I still have problems with the instant stomach aches that come on
quickly. I also have issues every now and then with big stomach aches that
seem to last for days. Gas is a huge issue too, I get that gas pain that
goes right up to your left shoulder and it can feel like labor pains. So my
next appt is in a couple weeks and not much has changed for me other than
I"m not sick after dinner every night (just a couple).
I'd love to be able to take my kids to the park or Chuck E Cheese (or any
place that doesn't have a bathroom ). but I can't.. I've seen a dietician
and she was a joke. I found a Natural Food Exchange place that I want to go
to, but haven't had a chance yet.. I've been tested for celiac (nope) and
had colonoscopies, cat scans and blood work.. My GI can't find what's wrong
with me. I'm wondering about this Alcat test and how it's done and if it's
credible.. I've never heard of it before.
So that's my story.. I hope joining here will help...thanks for reading!
